Kassidy and Kameron both had their 6 month check up at the dentist today. They both have gone twice a year since they were 2 years old. I haven't been since... 1998. I have a serious fear. The last quack hurt me BAD. One day I need to go back... one day. Anyway, at least my kids will have good smiles! :)
Clarksville Pediatric Dentistry is so cool! It's a place for kids only and the waiting room is stocked with video games, hdtv set to Nick Jr, and lots of toys. When you go to the back, there are TVs on the ceiling above each chair with waiting headphones to listen to while your teeth get cleaned. I only know this because I'm allowed to go back with Kennedy for her visits. The older kids go alone... it makes them feel independent. They love it. The staff is great with them and always lets us know they are praying for Kennedy and our whole family. They make us feel special.
So, the kids' visits went great! No cavities! YAY! However, Kassidy's 6 year molars are coming in (2 years late) and they are missing enamel. They said this will cause her teeth to be prone to cavities and make them very sensitive so they recommend a sealant. She goes in 3 weeks to get this put on. They're going to use laughing gas on her, so I really hope they let me go back for it. I wonder if they'll let me bring my video camera?! HA! The only bad part about it is they said she won't be able to chew gum or any chewy, sticky candy. Ever again. They said it would pull the sealant off. Kass is not real happy about this... what kid would be? Oh well, it could be worse! Oh yeah, they also said she'll definitely need braces. Guess I better start saving now!
Oh and her dentist asked if she had a lot of high fevers when she was 2-3 years old and I said she did, she had constant ear infections around that age. She said that, with all the antibiotics for the ear infections, caused this missing enamel problem. So... I'm expecting Kennedy will have the same thing. Who knew?!

Very interesting about the enamel. Good luck with sealants.
I had sealent put on when I was about 8, not because I had no enamel, just because I got so many cavities. They never told me to not chew gum or sticky candy and I did and the sealent never came off...not saying she should if they told her not to, LOL just telling ya my experience. Also I chewed gum with my braces and nothing horrible happenend. Good luck though!
I don't mind the dentist. It's the loose teeth that creep me out. I just got done with the oldest and now my middle one is starting to lose them all. Eeww!
You've got to be kidding me! 10 years and you haven't been to the dentist! I hate the dentist, but I can't go more than a year. All the plaque and junk pile up on your teeth. Gross! I love that feeling when they are clean! It's worth the pain! Go to the dentist!
I understand the fears with the dentist! I have them! Next week, I have a consult appointment with an oral surgeon who is going to remove my last 3 wisdom teeth. Do you know how anxious I am about now? Plus they asked on the phone if I was going to do local again or if I wanted to be out. I asked them, "Are you crazy? I want to be totally out!" I had to do the last one with local because I was PG with Preston and was having horrid pains from an abscess below it. Trust me if I could've been out, I would have!
