How Keeghan got his name... so by now you've figured out that the kids all have K names with 7 letters. When we got pregnant with Keeghan we threw around a bunch of names to fit this criteria. For a girl we had it narrowed down to Kaelynn or Kellsey. For boys we had several on the list including: Klayton (vetoed by Frank thanks to Clay Aiken lol), Kaidenn (which is who Kennedy would have been had she been a boy), Kainaan (Frank's favorite), Keeghan, Karsten or Kiernan. As with Kameron, we were stumped, so we polled our friends and family. Opinions ran high and there was a 3 way tie between Keeghan, Kaidenn & Kiernan, so Frank and I finally decided on our own. Then we kept it to ourselves ;).So obviously, we chose Keeghan and his middle name is Joel.
So let's really get down to my the truth of the matter.
Kassidy Jean
Kameron Jack
Kennedy Jean
Keeghan Joel
Their first names all have 7 letters and start with K.
Their middle name all have 4 letters and start with J.
The girls' names end in "Y", the boys' names end in "N".
The 2 oldest start with Ka and were both born in November (due on the same day but born 1 day apart).
The 2 youngest both start with Ke and were both born in May (due 1 day apart but born 15 days apart).
November and May are exactly 6 months apart which makes perfect timing for pictures and a long gap between joint birthday parties (See, God can be OCD sometimes too! haha).
Their middle names are all family names. We have 6 women in our family with the middle name Jean. Including me. I hated it growing up and swore I wouldn't do it to my daughter. I did it to both. They can seek therapy later. After I gave Kassidy the name we decided Kennedy would be left out if she didn't have a family name too. In hindsight, I wish I would have mixed it up a little and did Jane or Jena, but then I wouldn't get to call her "Kennedy Jean the drama queen". So I guess it all works out!
Kameron's middle name, Jack, is after my grandfather (Jack) and my mother (Jackie).
Keeghan's middle name is after his Godfather and one of our best friends, Moises. (His middle name is Joel)
So there is how our children got their names... Do you all think I'm crazy yet? It's ok, me too.
My friend Heather made a good point in my last post that I have not posted about Kennedy's birth, and all the emotions that went with that. It may make a good mini-series! haha Watch for that soon... it's a story you won't want to miss.
PS. Spell check has had a hay-day will all the names in this post! Kennedy is the only one spelled correctly! haha

I love all the little parts you have going on. Makes for fun reading!!
Ah! now my OCD doesn't look quite so crazy... And no, you can't see my spread sheets!
It's ok Renee I love their names. all of us have 4 letter names we go by. Dawn, Joel, Alex, Eian. even our dog Jada
We all have B names - but I never went to the extent you went to with the number of letters, endings, etc! Just Bs...(Bella is the exception b/c she is technically Isabella - but in reality Bella fits her to a 't'!!).
Loved the stories - can't wait for the next series!!!
Hope Frank was able to celebrate Memorial Day and that he knows how grateful we all are for his service and your sacrifice, as well!!!
Well, having known you for a while and been around for the naming of two of your kids Renee I of course knew most of this story. Didn't know how you got Kassidy's name though and that was so cute what Frank did with the letters. Very sweet of him and a great way to admit defeat. I wonder if he knew what he was in for after that, hahahahahaha. And I doubt many people like their middle name by the way. Mine is Lee and I actually wanted to give one of my girls that middle name, but Joe said no and well after getting their first names it just never would have worked with either of their names. So Natalie is Jean like your girls and also named for both of her grandmas and Kaitlyn is Marie, but she unfortunately isn't named after anyone in the family. I feel a little guilty about that. No big naming story for her. CJ's middle name is Jack after Joe's grandfather. So I do hope that Kaitlyn doesn't feel too left out. Maybe I should post the story of naming my kids though. It's an interesting one although not as interesting as yours ;). I must admit it sure would have been great if I were that creative with naming my kids though. However, Joe coming from a family who went with the everyone has "J" names he wouldn't have gone for it.
Love the naming stories!! My sisters and I are so obsessed with names... you chose wisely!
Heather (and Karline, Kaidan, Kalec and Kava - LOL)
I just want to admit that sometimes I make fun of people that name their kids using the same first letter throughout, but when I do it, I'm totally talking about my SIL who not only HAS to start her kid's names with an 'M', but also HAS to spell them in such a way that no one will ever be able to figure out what the name really is without bumbling around for ten minutes. It's a sickness that she has and it has caused me to still not know how to say/spell my new niece's name. She's five months old now.
Your 'K' names? Those I understand, can spell, and can pronounce. I hope. (Kennedy is my favorite, just for the record. LOVE that name!)
Interesting. Never would have thought twice about the names before because I didn't notice a pattern.
Wow, that is really interesting. I like name meanings. But I didn't think of that until after I named both of them...Thank the Good Lord that they both have cool name meanings.
My middle name is Mary...always hated it. And it means 'sea of bitterness'.
My sister is Jeannette. I call her Jeannie, which means God is gracious. Her middle name is Grace...So she is God is gracious Grace. LOL.
You should now do a post about name meanings...in your free time, that is.
Love T
This was a great series of posts! I really enjoyed them - and I do adore your children's names!
I just started reading your blog and I'm thinking about staring my own but can't seem to find the time to sit down and blog. I think the names are so cute and unique. All 4 Ks are adorable. I might want to start thinking about my own future kids' names now. So, are any of the names from your husband's family?
Rose
LOL..OK, so as your Mom, I think I should explain some of your OCD. Not from ME, of course, but your Grandmother (my Mom) named all 6 of us kids with nicknames that have 5 letters and end in "Y". Nancy, Gerry, Tommy, Jacky, Jimmy, Barby. Now that we are grown, my sister Barb and I both dropped the "y" and I go by Jackie. Tommy and Jimmy both dropped the "my" and go by Tom and Jim - although my Mom still calls us and spells our names with the "Y". My Mom couldn't figure out a middle name for me, so she just used the initial "B" because her first name is Betty. When your brother Brent was born, I did the same and put in "J" for his middle name - so I'm JBP and he's BJP. As for your first names, I think we just pulled them out of the air..can't remember any strategy around it other than your middle names (sorry about your middle name, but it does carry tradition). I enjoyed reading your posts though..I forgot about a lot of this!
Love, Mom
Thanks for sharing your story and you thinking with us. Nice blog!
These post are great! I love all that goes into names, we think long and hard on our too. I'll have to do a post about our kids names sometime. I ALWAYS get a good laugh every time I read your blog :) OCD glad I'm not the only one, sometimes I think oh' look what I'm doing to my kids...YES I'm passing it on. Problem is Arthur is as bad as me :0 Makes for a crazy house !
I wanted to name our third son Kellan, but my husband said no! If we have another one I will make sure he is deployed when I deliver..
I originally wanted to name Gabi, Jamie and have all my kids names start with a J since I already had Jeremy.
But I think yours is on the verge of OCD!
I remember voting on one of the boys (I don't remember which) names. You know my story is similar. I have 5 M's. All with two syllables. I don't have a blog so I'll shortly tell it here. Megan was first. We liked the name. Morgan was next. We liked the name. Then came Mason. We liked the name. Then there's Matthew. We didn't have a name for him but if we didn't find a M name with 2 syllables we were afraid he'd feel different so we picked Matthew. Same story goes for #5 Michael. Not nearly as fun to read as Renee's.
