Being 4 - Isn't it fabulous?!

Dear Kennedy,

Now that you're 4 we keep telling you what a big girl you are. I think, my darling daughter, that this is going to your head. Being 4 does not mean that you get to call Keeghan "naughty" when he's not doing anything wrong (or even if he IS!). Being 4 does not mean you get to hit your brothers and sister when they do things you do not like. Being 4 does not mean you can turn your nose up at your dinner... and then eat mine. Being 4 does not mean that you can walk in a parking lot without holding my hand, or push the "up" button on the elevator when we have to go "down". Being 4 does not mean that EVERY toy in the house belongs to you. That iPod, does in fact, belong to Kassidy. Being 4 does not mean that you can tell me "NO!" when I ask you to come to me. Being 4 does not give you the right to be demanding and/or bossy. Being 4 does not mean you get to whine if you don't get your way. Being 4 most definitely does not mean that you are in charge, even if you ARE a "Sincess".

Being 4 DOES mean that I can put you on time out. For. 4. Whole. Minutes. (Supernanny told me I could, so it must be true!) Being 4 also means that you have the right to smile, laugh, play and be the sweet little girl that I know you are. Being 4 means you can test out a little more independence... under your Mom's watchful eye, and within reason. Being 4 entitles you to hugs, kisses, tea parties and endless games of Groovy Girls, unless it's bedtime. Hopefully your oh so fun case of the "Birthday Syndrome" will be over once you wake up and you'll look like this again:
Otherwise, being 4 is going to be a long year for both of us!

I will always love you, my wonderful 4 year old!
Your Mommy

Oh my, those photos are SO cute! She sounds a lot like my 3 year old.

Well, no matter how "difficult" she can be, she is definitely an absolutely adorable "sincess"!

uh oh! maybe she was just making sure that you weren't going to "change" too. sure hope the "sincess" wakes up in a wonderful mood on saturday. i understand the long year thing. t just turned 8 and i can tell it is going to be a year full of emotions. so many big steps...the first of which is moving from the primary school building to the intermediate school building where she is back to being "the baby".....there are some huge 4th and 5th graders these days :)

Oh no sounds like it didn't turn into such a great day. Hopefully it was just the whole it's my birthday and I can do whatever I want sort of thing. A whole year of that would not be fun. Oh wait, I think we're on about year 5 of that here, hehehehehehe. It gets worse when they turn 9.

Happy (belated) birthday, Kennedy!

(I'm ignoring the part where 4 seems an awful lot like the worst parts of 2 because I want to think that the end to bossy is in sight.)

So the "no" thing isn't supposed to start until 4 - wow - Bella's really gotten a jump on that one!! She also likes to tell Brooklyn when she is being naughty - even when she isn't!!!!

Very cute post and very cute pictures!!! The "happy" one is especially a good picture - but I like the pouty one too!!!

Hope she had a great birthday!

No wonder she thinks she's a Sincess! She really is!!

Good luck with 4 - just wait for 13! (I'd be willing to make a trade ...)

Happy Birthday to Kennedy! And the Clarksville to McMinnville trip is quite long, I agree. My best friend and her husband use to live there so I've made the trip quite a few times! I'm excited about meeting you in person, though, and I'm sure the Dunlap's will be excited about the visit! Just keep me posted and if you need me to be here on a Sunday afternoon, that would work too, if it would be easier. I'll talk to you soon!

I don't want to scare you, but I hear our kids have the terrible 4s instead of the terrible 2s. It may be a long year. I hope it's not, though.

She is beautiful, even with a big pout on her face.

Gosh she is so precious! Something about those big brown eyes and pouty lips makes her irresistible to kisses! ;)

I've heard that children with Down's are much smaller than children without DS. Kennedy is sooooooo tiny!!! She is so adorable! ;D

OK, that was flippin' hysterical!

Did you write the post first, and then take pics, or build the post around the pics, lol?

I remember 4 being a pain, although NOT as bad as 3!

Good luck!
