I haven't done a Blast from the Past in over a month! Sorry!!
I was reading on another blog about potty training and it brought back memories of potty training Kassidy.
Kassidy was SO stubborn... she was 3 years old and absolutely refused to potty train. We tried EVERYTHING: rewarding, punishing, bribing, begging, EVERYTHING to get that kid to just PEE on the potty. She didn't want to wear panties and there is absolutely nothing we could do. We would tell her that BIG girls go pee on the potty and she would say, "No... no they don't. Big girls like diapers." *sigh*
FINALLY We were getting ready for a trip to Southern California and I told Kassidy if she wanted to buy toys at Disneyland then we had to stop buying her diapers and she'd have to start going on the potty. Guess what? It worked! Just like that she was potty trained day and night and never looked back. Punk.
Fast forward a few weeks to Disneyland, I gave Kassidy a $10 bill and told her to pick something out in the store. She picked out a book that played music and went to pay for it. She handed the cashier her book and her money and said, "This is my diaper money. My mommy can't afford to buy them anymore." Yeah. That's what I get. But whatever, she was in panties! *sigh*
I hate potty training.

YAY....... for diaper money!!!!
It won't be long and I'll be in the midst of potty training again. I sure hope it goes easier this time. Laughing at what Kassidy told the cashier. Too funny! THANK YOU for the links for font colors! That is awesome!
thats so funny. Kimber turned two in april, so sometime over the next few months we will be doing it for the last time. YEAH
I remember this story ;). Didn't you end up buying her a huge castle at Disney Land too or was that her Christmas present that year or something? Your kids are too funny. My friend is potty training her 3 year old now. She turns 4 in December and is supposed to start pre-k in September. I've talked to her about using the potty when I've watched her and she always tells me the same thing, she'll be a big girl in September and will wear panties. I seriously think that's exactly what she's going to do too. Once she gets her mind set on something she does it. I can tell you she definitely doesn't want to live in my house right now though. I've told her what I did to my kids. I did this mostly with Natalie because she was difficult with night training. So when she wet the bed I made her strip it and bring the sheets to the washer. I even used to make her wash out her panties when she dirtied them. Not sure if that worked or the bribes worked though. I think it was the bribes with her though. It's going to be interesting when we transition to underwear with CJ. Who knows what he'll be like. They are all so different.
Oh man...potty training is the WORST!! I hate hate hate hate it! I've got one more to go and then I'm done. Pierce feels completely lost and stressed out without his diaper on, so I'm sure training him is going to be a long drawn out process. ick!
I think Kassidy and Arline were cut from the same cloth!!
People always say "oh I can't wait till he/she is out of diapers" - well I CAN.
Two words: Wal-Mart bathroom...
How cute!
Thanks for sharing that story. I assume I am the blog you were visiting that reminded you of this? This does definitely give me hope. I do think that one advantage of my little one being "not so little" when she finally agrees to try potty training is that she will probably learn it incredibly fast.
Our only problem is that our "special" little girl will never be potty trained so we are dealing with 2 kids in diapers. It is getting very old very fast.
Oh, I hate potty training! It is not going well for us at all. Greg, 3 1/2 yesterday, has all the same comments as Kassidy - "No pee potty. Pee in diaper." It is seriously frustrating! Yesterday he peed in the potty for the second time...ever! When I ask him if he wants to pee in the potty again, all I hear is "no, no, no." We've resorted to bribing but are having little success.
Oh boy. She's one tough cookie! I gave up trying to decide when my kids would potty train after the twins. Now I just let them decide. SO much easier. And about the same as far as the time they finally "get it". So far anyway. Who knows how the next one will be?
LOL reminds me of my little cousin, when she wasn't doing well potty training either, then the family was taking a trip to disney world and told her they couldn't afford it unless they quit buying diapers, IT WORKED! LOL amazing what kids will do for disney lol
Love that! I hate potty training too...so I'm not doing it! LOL! As frustrating as it was for you, wasn't that a much easier way to PT Kassidy than mess with the whole accidents, etc...? LOL!
