She did SOOOO well! She got a little weepy when they were taking the back pins out because those are the ones that were so painful to her anyway. We were able to distract her with a book though.
Now she is back in a neck brace and will wear it for several months. Her CT looked great! Dr. Samdani said that he already saw a lot of bone growth and he was very pleased. We have to come back to Philly in about 2 1/2 months.

Olivia, Megan and Kennedy last night at Stephanie's house

This morning before Kennedy's CT scan

Being silly

Dr. Samdani telling Kennedy he's going to take the halo off...

Taking off the side bars...

Here we go....

Bars are off! (Yes, I was crying!)

Happy to be almost free

FREEEEEEEEEEE... ok except for the neck brace!
On a more personal note, I wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who has supported us with prayer on this journey, and to all those who love Kennedy and our family. It's been so amazing to hear all the stories of people who have been touched by her life, and even more the people who have been in similar situations and have written to tell me how it's helped them just to read of another family going through the same things. I know I have gained a HUGE amount of my strength from following other families who have been there, done that with their children and I am so thankful I am able to pass that on to other families going down the same path. I am so blessed to be Kennedy's mother.

Kennedy is one tough cookie. She was so brave. I bet she feels like the world has been lifted off of her shoulders. I hope she is on a road of complete healing. She has an amazing story. You and your entire family are truly blessed. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh Renee, I have tears in my eyes just thinking about this. Thank goodness it is over and she is free from the halo. We all know she is an angel anyway ;) Safe travels back home.
Oh she looks so happy. So have you given her a bath yet? That's so great that she's already begun to heal. Sounds like the doctor was pleasantly surprised to see how much healing she's done already. Hopefully she will be okay from her on out in the neck brace. So when do you go back home?
It's hard to tell just how tiny she is when she is in pictures by herself, but the one with her and her doctor really showed what a little thing she is! I am so glad to hear she's healing so well already. I guess compared to the halo, the neck brace isn't so bad. I'll keep praying she stays safe and heals properly without the halo.
Dear Renee,
Because of Kennedy, your family and you I gain STRENGTH every day, seeing all you have overcome have touched my life deeply, inspiring me to always keep going, knowing that God is with us and everything will be fine.
I'm very grateful and REALLY appreciate all the effort you put into sharing your life with us. Thank you so much.
God Bless you ~
She is so amazingly strong! What a cutie! Now you can hold her and cuddle her and she can have a real bath!
I am so glad she has some bone growth already. YEAH!
I looked at the last picture and had the biggest grin on my face at the sight of Kennedy's happy smile.
She's such a beautiful little girl!
Continued prayers for her recovery & for perfect bone growth around the hardware. I know the next few months will be a bit anxious as you protect Kennedy's neck ~ I pray God will keep her safe & there aren't any accidents at all.
(((( hugs ))))
You have such a stong beautiful young lady, and an inspiration to a lot of people. Glad things are looking so good, and that you both are well. Will continue praying for you both for a safe trip home.

She is one tough cookie, that girl. (and her mama too)
I am so excited to see Kennedy without the halo , and will pray for her progress...
I didn't know where to post this. but this is something I wanted to share. Anyway, I'm not sure if you are familiar with the organization but currently the Jimmy Fund is having a radio telethon it ends tonight at midnight. As of right now they have raised over 3 million since yesterday morning, the money does go to the Dana-Farber Institute in Boston. I really just wanted to pass the word on, and thought this would be a great place to do it.

I've been thinking about Kennedy all day. What a relief to see her smiling face tonight. Are the wounds on her head really bad from the screws??
She's loose!!! And that is the biggest smile! :)
OK so Todd asked how Kennedy did today! ;) What great pictures Renee. Thank you for sharing your life stories with us all. Your an amazing person and have helped so many people with the knowledge you pass out instead of selfishly holding it in.

You and your family are such a blessing to all of us who read about your day-to-day lives. I'm completely in love with your family and feel like we're good friends...I can only imagine the friendship that might blossom once we MEET! As soon as Kennedy is up for traveling...y'all have to make a trip down to McMinnville...it just has to happen. I'll be praying that that day will come very soon.

LITTLE Kennedy. I am sorry I goofed on the spelling. I am still woozy myself.I feel very blessed that you would bother to visit my blog when you have so much going on in your life. Gracias!
I just can't imagine what that was like to watch them remove the pins from her head! It looks like she was such a trooper throughout the whole process, I'm glad the procedure went well and she is halo-free...now praying she continues to heal with the neck brace!
I am so behind on my blog reading. I am happy to see her smiling in the last picture, no visible halo, but I know she still has one! She is amazingly composed, isn't she? Such a sweetie.
