Kennedy finally woke up around 30 minutes ago. She just sat up and said HI! She ate some more crackers and is now watching Hannah Montana. She is in pretty good spirits but still has a low grade fever. Neurology is saying they don't think this is surgery related (though her surgeon still thinks it probably is). The ped that's following her today came back in with the doctor from the Down syndrome clinic here which was good. They've been talking and are going to consult a geneticist to make sure there's nothing they're missing. The other thing is her blood work shows her bi-carb is low, and when she was hospitalized back in October it was low then as well. They said that it could be something with her kidneys, maybe a side effect from chemo. They are going to talk to Nephrology (kidney doctor) and have them come see her. They ran a bunch more blood work just a few minutes ago and they're testing her urine as well.
I'm glad to see her awake and interacting! Hopefully they'll figure something out soon!

Praising and Thanking God for the good news. Just don't let them send you out of there until you have more definitive answers....things are much easier to handle in hospital than at home.
Give the Sincess a big hug from me.
Hope they figure it out quickly, Renee. Lord knows she doesn't need any more bumps in the road. We'll be praying. Take care.

oh my! I just read all your last few posts to catch up with what's going on and I am really praying that you have answers soon...fight Kennedy! You are such a great fighter!
YAY for the good news!! Still praying that they find what is causing all this!!! Hope she continues to perk up....
wow GREAT news!
Thinking about/praying for you and Kennedy.
You just don't get a minute to relax do you?
We are praying here.
Could Kenn be allergic to the metal?
Even surgical steel makes my skin burn and causes a huge buildup of scar tissue and eventually infection.
We are praying for Kennedy, you, and your family. I pray this bump in the road smooths out very soon. A big hug to you, Renee!
Praying for Kennedy, she is in God's hands ~ , God is with her, helping her every step, sending a lot of positive energies and good thoughts to you...

Great news! We love you Kennedy!
I hope you get more answers soon. I am just picturing the docs all standing around scratching their heads trying to figure out what to do next. I'm happy too that her surgeon is involved. I can't imagine if she has the halo taken off ... going through all that for nothing (well, I guess something, but not much...LOL).
Glad things are looking more optomistic! Still praying!
if its not one thing its another, she is giving you a run for your money. More prayers and hugs.
Hello!
I´m portuguese and I just found your blog by chance... but I cound't stop reading your posts. I have two little girls so, I can understand what you and your little girl are living. But things will get better soon, you will see. We all pray for it.

My E would love to watch "ha la la" with Kennedy. I hope you get some answers soon!
I hope they figure things out soon, I'll be thinking of you guys !
I just read all of your lastest entries to catch up. I am praying very hard for Kennedy right now. She is a fighter and hopefully they will come up with some concrete answers soon and she will get the care she needs.
The prayers are working!
OMgosh, I hadn't read any of this til today. Prayers out to you all. I wish you all could get a break!
Renee, I'm just catching up, I hadn't checked in since yesterday morning. The not knowing, the miscommunication, the lethargic, non responsiveness, all adds up. I'm so worried about all of you. I wish I could head down there now, give you and Kenn a big hug, then help you with the other kids. I wish I lived closer!!!!! Until the day I can hop on a plane, I'll be sending lots of prayers and love your way. Hang in there, and as always, keep us posted!
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
I am glad she is up and talking. I am continuing to pray!
We are soooo praying for your Kennedy. My heart is just breaking for all of you! You certainly have earned some care-free, worry free days on down the road. Keep your chins up, there are loads of people praying.
With lots of love,
I'm finally getting a chance to check in on the updates although I've been thinking of you all day. I am so glad to hear she is responding. I hope all the docs get their stuff together! Continuing to pray for all of you. I hope they figure this out very soon.
