Day 1 of Kennedy's potty training.
She always wakes up dry in the morning (at least 99% of the time) and if I can get her right to the potty chair, she'll pee in it. So she went once today in the potty. Then she went 6 times in her elmo panties. *sigh* After she does it she says, "OH NO! I all wet!" And then I say, "KENNEDY!" And then she says, "I so sorry!" and she hugs my leg. And if I ask her for the 100th time in 10 minutes if she needs to go potty she tells me to "Stop it!" *sigh*
I hate potty training.

Kennedy is one of my favorite cute angels :)
Me too! nuff said ---Jen
Ditto...I can just see her sweet face as she is hugging your leg. She'll catch on. :o)
I just love her! Potty training is the pits but when she says, "I so sorry," I would melt.
I can't wait to see how you do this. My 5.5-year-old isn't trained yet (he has autism). I need the energy to tackle the issue.

Oh I am not looking forward to potty training again. I swear that has got to be one of the worst. Well, hopefully soon something will click with her. Good luck finding the thing that's going to work with her. Hey, you've done it twice before so you know you can do it ;).
Potty training brings back such horrible memories for me. Ugh!!!!! I can so relate. I remember pull ups never worked for any of my kids, when I stopped using them they started getting the hint. Kennedy, will get it soon. Sierra got it quick just living it I thought it was forever but it really wasn't.
Hang in there!!

Then do what I'm doing....and don't. ROFLMBO!! I haven't had a "today is the day" yet with Darah. We sit on the potty several times a day, but she hasn't actually gone more than a very very few times. She usually pees right after she gets up. Connor is loving sitting on the potty, so I think we're going to wait until he's ready and do them together. I think Connor is going to be really easy to potty train. I hate posts about p.t. because it makes me feel like a bad mom for not caring or working on it very hard. LOL!

Check this blog, they have an article about Potty Training.

Wow, she has a big vocabulary, and stringing together lots of words. Lucky mama!!! I can't say E can talk like that, but she does go on the potty most of the time.
But...
The other day she wet and went and hide her panties in the bathroom behind the door and took the time to find a matching pair to put on, and never told a soul she had an accident. Mom foiled the mystery when I went to shower the next morning. lol.
oh no, pee in the elmo panties??? thats a sin!! haha--just kidding!
hang in there, you know she will do it, just on kennedy time!!!
potty training hugs!
OMGosh I can so relate to that. Aiden will go usually but then he gets lazy. If he pottys in his elmo undies it kills him but he isn't about to tell you he has to go if he is busy doing other things.
I can picture her in my brain saying those words to you and hugging you! She probably knows when she has to go, but hasn't learned to hold it yet! She's precious!
Don't ask....tell! I never ask my kids if they have to go, especially in the beginning when they don't know what I'm asking. So I just take them every 30 minutes or so. Most kids with DS tend to best on a schedule. Once they know how to "let go" then they can go on command. I'm not beyond putting their hands in warm water. And a liquid diet all morning long to make sure there is fuel for the potty.
Average age for potty training in the DS population is 5 years. I've seen it happen as young as 2.5, but most kids are older.
Good luck! Get a potty in every room, and let be a streaker!
I'm knee deep in the potty learning here. If I take T every 15 minutes we can stay dry. BUT he gets fed up of me harassing him and says no and gets angry. I have decided to not have any time frame goals and be gentle and not pushy and one day whenever, it will be over LOL Pushy just doesn't work for T. Every time he goes it is a huge hand clapping screaming celebration. My neighbors must think we are nuts. Just might take out a full page add in the local paper the day I can say we are done :) I despised this with the other kiddos wow if I only knew *SIGH!
Both of my girls, just finally did it by themselves. Both of them just decided one day to go to the bathroom on their own and then told me about it and from that day forward never looked back. Happened at age 3 for Cheyenne and EIGHT for Mercede.
Hang in there!! Thank God for mutily packs of panties..sending good potty thoughts your way :)
Yeah, those wet undies get old FAST!!!
That is GREAT she is dry at night!!! WOW! Aleena is potty trained during the day, but we are nowhere near ready to lose the nighttime diaper. Today was the second day I tried a nap without the diaper. Yesterday was good. Today . . . well lets just say I'm washing sheets as I type.
