Do you mind if I ask, does Kennedy still have the extra thumb or did you choose to have it removed?
Kennedy does not have the thumb anymore. They removed it when she was 6 months old. She was in a cast up to her shoulder for about a month afterwards! You should have heard some of the comments we got... a tiny little baby (she was like 6 lbs still at that age) in this huge bright pink cast!
I have a question, did they get make sure the nerve endings were killed off when they removed the extra thumb? The reason I ask is, I was born with 2 extra fingers and the way they took care of it back then was they clamped like an umbilical cord and let it fall off. I am almost 40 yrs old and still have problems with those nerve endings. Sorry for posting Anonymously but I don't have any of the other options offered.
I'm not sure how they did the nerve endings. I know she had ligaments running from her real thumb into her extra thumb and they had to reroute those. They weren't able to clamp it though because of the bones in it. They said they could only clamp it if there were no bones. (And no problem posting anonymously, lots of people do! :))
i can't figure out how to put Kennedy's button on my site -_-;;; lol I'm usually pretty suave at these things but the darn button defeats me :(
Try this post for more directions. Let me know if it still doesn't work.
He (Keeghan) certainly is a handsome boy! I wonder if he will get Kameron's sense of humor?
LOL Part of me hopes so and part of me hopes not! Kameron definitely has Frank's sense of humor though so it wouldn't surprise me if Keeghan gets it too!
How's Kennedy doing? Last I saw on your blog she was going to the hospital?
Kennedy's doing great!! We are just waiting for her next appointments... she goes to Cincinnati to GI on September 16th and then back to hemonc at Vandy the end of the month and then next month she goes to Philly to see her spine surgeon again. I expect good reports from all 3 docs! :)
I love her and can not wait to see that precious boy on my TV more often!! Hope you don't mind, I copied this on my blog?!
Don't mind at all! :)
Do you mind if I take your children's cancer facts and post them on my board? I was shocked at some of them and want to spread the word.
PLEASE! Feel free! The more people that are aware the faster we'll find a cure! Thank you for spreading the word!
I was just wondering if you'd mind if I posted some of Kennedy's story on my blog? I know we've never 'met' y'all but we love y'all so much and Kennedy has just charmed us to death! I have her sticker up that lets everyone know we pray for her and I'd just like everyone who comes to the blog to know something about her!
I don't mind at all! Thanks for asking! :)
Does she get macaroni? Or just a hot bowl of cheese? LOL. Does this NOT constipate her?
Uhhh no, she eats the macaroni with it! LOL She just calls macaroni and cheese, "Cheese" and therefore, we all call it "cheese". It's kind of like "Sincess", "Plone" and "Blah Blah" (Spongebob). Kennedy's a trend setter in our house! :)
Have you read The Memory Keeper's Daughter?
Yes! And I've seen the movie! I liked the book better... but I almost always do!
Wow, how scary. I will pray that Kass doesn't have any more episodes. How is she feeling today?
She seems fine today! After church we had a service ministry fair and they had inflatables for the kids set up. I was nervous to let her play on them but they were inside and she insisted she felt fine, and she did fine! SO who knows?! Hopefully it will never happen again!
Maybe she just got over heated??? Or her blood sugar dropped from all the excitement?
That's what we were thinking too... they did check her blood sugar and it was normal and it wasn't that hot out soooo... I dunno. The other thought we had was that it was something to do with the mechanical bull ride thing she went on. She stayed on a good while and maybe it just really shook her up? I dunno!
