Q&A #24

Kassidy
I somehow missed the update about Kassidy - is she okay?
Yes, she's fine now, thank goodness! Just gave us all a scare! You can read about it here if you haven't already.

Hopefully it wasn't too scary for Kass. Did she realize what was going on with her?
She said she felt like she was in a tunnel and she could hear us talking but we were really far away. She's never passed out before, so I don't think she realized what was going on. Hopefully she will never do it again!

Has she ever had these issues before? Anyway, I was just noting it for maybe further clarification. Maybe have her completely checked out for diabetes or hypoglycemia??
She never has, her doctor said if it ever happens again she will run tests, but she really thinks that the bull ride thing just knocked her equilibrium out of whack or something.

I love that montage! Was this before or after or during the fainting?
That was about 15 minutes before... and the likely culprit.

Kameron
I was wondering If you don't mind me asking where does your son fall on the PDD spectrum?
Well, his official diagnosis is PDD-NOS... they've also mentioned ODD and ADHD but neither have been diagnosed. He is pretty high functioning as far as the PDD goes... most of the time I don't even think about it... and then there are those moments when I think, "OK THERE it is!" I will do a series on him at some point. He is a very interesting kid!

Can I ask you one question though? You mention Kam has therapies? What have I missed? I read every one of your posts and dont recall seeing what problems Kam has. He seems like the most perfect little guy.
Thanks! He IS the most perfect little guy :). He's actually not in therapy anymore, but he was from age 2 1/2 until about age 4. He didn't talk AT ALL until he was about 3 1/2 and he has several sensory issues. His diagnosis is Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Not otherwise specified) aka PDD-NOS. It's on the Autism spectrum. Like I mentioned above, I'll do a series of posts at some point.

Well, the kids are gorgeous here but I must admit, I'd love to see the "shocked" Kameron look! Maybe you could post one? Please? :)
You asked for it!Could his eyes BE any bigger?! LOL I wish I had my scanner to scan last Spring's school pics... they're REALLY bad!

Kennedy
How is the potty training coming? :)
GREAT overall!! I will do a potty training update post later in the week!

Um, didn't Kennedy know like 75 signs at age 2 or something?!
Yes! At least!!! She knows well over 200 now, though she talks WAY more than she signs. She just signs for fun now. Keeghan will sign "more" "milk" and "all done" but that's about it... of course what more does he need?! hahaha

has Kennedy's PDA closed? (Is that what she had?) And how is her neck doing?
She actually had a VSD and yes it closed on its own :). Her neck is doing well, as far as I know! We go back to Philly next month sometime.

Kennedy's diarrhea has stopped now right?
Well it had... and now it's back... as of last week. We already had this appointment scheduled though, so we'd be here either way. I'll post more about this in the potty training update later!

Keeghan
Ok, can I have him?
Yes... but only in the middle of the night. HA!

We're okay with the overnight sleeping, but do you have any advice for naps?!
No... he's so exhausted from not sleeping at night that he takes GREAT naps! LOL Maybe that's the trick?!?!

Books
the book 'Plain Truth".....wasn't that a Lifetime movie?
Yes! I recorded it on my DVR but half way through it froze. Stupid Charter! I'm firing them by the way! WOOOHOOO!

I also love Plain Truth. DId you see the lifetime movie of Plain Truth?
I would REALLY like to! LOL One day I will!

Otherwise, have you read the twilight series? they are great.
No, I'll have to check them out, thanks!

Miscellaneous
Your pictures are great. Maybe the school could let you submit your own for the yearbook? JK
HAHA I don't think our principal would go for that! I would love it though! LOL

Do you always have your camera handy....like maybe tucked in your bra?!? HA HA!
Hmmm I doubt this would fit in my bra... or I would at least need two so I'd be even! hahaha

Renee, given you are the Disney Expert - What would you say Goofy is?
Oh definitely a dog. Why is he on two legs when Pluto is on 4? Why can Goofy talk, when Pluto can't? My only guess is that Goofy had better Physical and Speech therapists than Pluto did! Maybe Goofy got into Early Intervention faster. No?! LOL I have NO idea, but it's really weird that they did that. Goofy is definitely not a cow!

Is your epidural story somewhere that I can read it?
No, actually it's not... it was HORRIBLE! I will post about it soon, probably with Kameron's story since it was the epidural with him that was so bad!

Renee, seriously... Tell me the truth: Have you somehow managed to clone yourself so that that you have several Renees to get all the things done that you do? If so, don't hold out. Tell us your secret! ;)
LOL I don't think the world could handle more than one of me... at least I KNOW my kids couldn't! haha My mom is always here to help by going to soccer games with me, occupying one kid while I focus on another, and she even picks up Kass and Kam and takes them to school in the mornings so I don't have to wake Kenn and Keeghan up! She and I actually spent all of Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday purging my house of excess toys. A LOT of excess toys! The people at Salvation Army are going to be VERY happy, I think! So yeah, my mom's my secret. She's the best mom (and grandma) ever! :)

The hair is cute. How'd you do that?
I have NO idea! LOL Actually, I found it on ths blog where she did a half ponytail with it and I just decided to do a full one so Kass' hair wouldn't get into her face for soccer.

Did you do the style?
Yep! It was actually really easy! The blog I mentioned above gives step by step directions. I love that!

Oh, I am so jealous that you have so much help from your mom. I can only wish for that. Boy that would have been a huge help to have my mom come drive the kids to school when CJ was first born last year. Okay, granted we live an hour away and my mom has to be at work in the morning, but still my mom lately seems much better at giving me grief than anything else.

Oh, and FYI about the school pics usually the school gets some sort of kick back from the picture places that come in and take the pictures. At least that's the way it works here. When the parents buy those pictures the school gets part of the profit.

Lifetime actually put out a "real" DVD of the plain truth movie. I have it if you would like to borrow it at some point. If you can hold off until the Buddy Walk, I'll be happy to bring it to you.

I used to doo something similiar with my hair when I was a teenager.

I'd pull it into a tight ponytail, then I'd make three braids and pull them through the bottom of the elastic so it looked like I had three loops hanging from my head.

I'd also wrap a scarf around the first ponytail and let it drape around the loops.
