Another crazy day!

Keeghan slept just GREAT last night! I was so relieved... for him and me! haha He woke up this morning wheezing pretty bad again so I gave him another breathing treatment and he seemed fine after that.

Kennedy decided to sleep in today and I finally had to wake her up so we could get to therapy. She seemed really groggy, but I thought she was just tired. She asked for water and ended up slugging down about 24 ounces. During her therapy session she sat in the chair, played a little, but didn't say much - totally NOT Kennedy style! After it was over she laid on the floor and went completely limp. She couldn't even sit up for me to get her coat on. SO I carried her to the car and called her doctor.

At first, her doctor suggested taking her straight to Vanderbilt ER for fluids, but I asked if I could just bring her in there first to see if they could check her out. She really scares me when she gets like this! We got there and they did a CBC which showed her white count higher than the other day - a sign of infection - and she decided on a whim to do a strep test. Her throat wasn't red, and neither of us thought it would be positive, but she just wanted to rule it out.

SO guess what she has?! STREP!! Kenn's doctor and her nurse and I were all actually cheering because NOW we can fix it! This is what has been causing her fevers, of course. I asked whether it would make her so lethargic and she said "Well... not in normal kids, but this is KENNEDY!" True, very true! SO she gave us a prescription and off we went.

On the way to the pharmacy Kennedy threw up everywhere :(. It was just water though because that's all she'd had at that point. I got some medicine down her and more fluids, but she only ate 2 or 3 bites of lunch. After a few hours she perked up a bit and she seems much better tonight. She has another fever tonight, but she ate a good dinner and is up walking around. You can still tell by her eyes that she doesn't feel well though. Hopefully once these antibiotics take hold she'll be back to 100%!

By the time we got home this afternoon, Keeghan was wheezing again so I gave him another breathing treatment and then he got his oral steroid tonight. Hopefully by tomorrow HE'LL be better too!

I need to get Kameron in for a nurse visit since he's my little strep carrier. He has no symptoms but he never does, and usually when someone in the house is positive, he's the culprit. Speaking of Kameron, while we were at the doctor's office, I got a call from the school nurse. Somehow Kameron fell off his chair. Seriously?! How do you fall off a chair? So in the process of falling his tooth went almost all the way through his bottom lip. The nurse let me know she gave him ice and stopped the bleeding but it was pretty deep. I said, "Well, I just HAPPEN to be standing by a nurse!" So they said since it didn't break all the way through there was nothing they could do and to just watch the inside of his mouth for infection. The outside is really bruised and it looks like he has a fat lip. Only my kid, I tell ya!

AND not to leave Kassidy out, her school play was tonight and she did FABULOUS!!! She remembered all her lines and the play was really cute! I must confess that her bun started to let go about half way through. I guess I won't be a hair dresser when I grow up after all! Pictures coming soon!

Please keep praying for Kenn and Keeghan! And thanks for all the responses about Asthma! I learned a lot and I will keep an eye on him!

Teo gets asthma 4 times a year. The last time was 3 weeks ago, and we spent a whole week every day at the doctors office with him getting back to back breathing treatments, pedipred and antibiotics. They finally after 4 years of me yelling, gave me a super cute penguin breathing machine. But every time its the same, we walk in they say he is at 97% and go hes ok.. I laugh and say no hes not 97% for him is BAD, just listen.. They do and thus starts the week of fun.. By week two hes just fine. I hope the kiddos get better asap! This last time, we spent 6 hours daily at the doctors with breathing treatments, waiting for his heart rate to go down, and than another and antoher and so on of treatments. I feel your pain, and worry. Ill be praying for all of them

What a crazy day indeed! I am glad that you know what is going on and that you have what you need to treat them all. My kids have needed nebulizer treatments from a very young age too, so I feel for you on the sitting with a toddler in your lap while you hold the mask on their face for 20 minutes. Mine used to cry and fight it initially, but they both got used to it and stopped fighting it thankfully!

What is nice is that now they both use inhalers. Two puffs and we're done!

Hope Keeghan doesn't fight it, that makes it all the worse.

((Hugs)) and hope they get better fast!

Emily falls off her chair at dinner at least once a week. We don't even pay attention any more...she falls, then gets up and sits back down. There isn't ever any blood, though. That's a different story!

Hope everyone gets back to...um...normal? LOL.

Glad Kass did so well! Can't wait to see pics!

Okay, I swear you are the 3rd person in a week that I've heard about who's son fell and almost bit clear through their bottom lip. So just know you are not alone there.

So great that you found out what was going on with Kennedy. Not so great that she has strep.
I will keep her and Keeghan in my prayers.
Give Kam a hug for me. I put several of my teeth through my lip when I was younger and I can remember just how badly it hurt.

I seriously hope you have a BORING weekend :) and the kiddos feel better.

That is just scary how sick Kenn gets. I'm glad you found your answer.

Continuing to pray!

Wow - I just don't see how you do it. I get kinda crazy & only have the two kiddos & we don't even have any extra health concerns to factor in. I hope you know what a strong, inspiring, & amazing person that you are.

I don't think Keeghan is too young for asthma. My niece was officially diagnosed by a pulmonologist at age 1 after having symptoms since age 6 weeks. My son has asthma which is triggered by colds and allergies. This year he is on nightly maintenance breathing treatments to try to prevent the attacks. Last year was no fun - pneumonia twice, asthma repeatedly. Looking forward to a better winter this year! :)
