So when I left off last time, I was about to start this book: Ever After by Karen Kingsbury. It's the sequel to Even Now. I cried like a baby while reading this book. If you've been reading my blog long enough, or know me in person even a little, you know that I cry VERY easily, but seriously, this was gut wrenching sobs. I mourned over the characters in this book and had to remind myself several times that they're NOT real! (Thankfully at the end Karen said she did the same thing... and she made them all up in the first place! HA!) So this is the continuing story of Shane Galanter, Lauren Gibbs and their daughter Emily Anderson. In this book Emily meets the guy of her dreams, Justin, who happens to be a Soldier. Of course he is sent to Iraq where Lauren is over there reporting on the war. The book intertwines all the characters old and new into one big family. That's all I'm going to say, but really, if you like Christian fiction, go get Even Now and Ever After. You won't be sorry!
Right now I'm reading Sarah's Key. The simple summary is this: A contemporary American journalist investigates what happened to a little girl and her family during the roundup of Jews in Paris in 1942.
I can already see the stories intertwining and can't wait to finish it. It's definitely a depressing subject matter, but it's real and it happened, and I'm glad this book was written. This book is fiction but the events of the round up are true. Sickening. I'll write more on this when I'm done.
Up next? The Rescue! I got this in the mail the other day and thought, "I didn't order a book, did I?!" Turns out it was from my dear friend Kelly!!! Thanks Kel! I can't wait to read it!!!!! Be sure to check out my new book shelf on the bottom left of this page!
