Frank had to go into work the morning after he got home, so by the time the kids woke up, he was already gone. Here is how it went down when he DID get home:
(Seeing Daddy walk in the door) DADDY?????
Frank: Come give me a hug, Kennedy! Kennedy: (Drawing into herself) Umm...
Frank: How bout a kiss?Kennedy: You go over there!
Frank: You don't want to come see me? Kennedy: No.
Frank: Can you give me 5? Kennedy: No.
And that's how it went down. She ate lunch while keeping a watchful eye on him. We figure either she was mad at him for leaving her (again) OR she remembered that LAST time he came home she had her spine surgery and was put into a halo. Either way, she eventually warmed up.
And they lived happily ever after.

Awww poor thing. Maybe she remembered the time she saw him outside mowing lawns or something so she didn't believe it was really him. Glad she finally came around and you were able to enjoy your holiday all together.

That made me sad for Frank...I just can't imagine how good it must feel to have him home, finally. I bet Frank just wanted to grab Kennedy and hold her when she said that...kids are so funny

that has to break a daddy's heart. I know my kids would have to have taken a bit to warm up (2 and 4 year olds) which is understandable but at the same time so hard on the old ticker.

Oh Renee, what a great Xmas present for all of you....Frank! Funny story about Kennedy.....I often wonder what goes on in their heads. I am so glad she warmed up....
Aww, at least she warmed up to him. Prayers for all of you and especially Frank! Eden does this to William on a fairly regular basis lol - if he's gone too long. And yeah, last time she saw him wasn't the best thing to happen to her! Its SO good to see the pics of him home with you all (and out of that UNIFORM! Must be nice to just wear normal clothes!)

glad she warmed up to him! it is still so exciting and i was telling everyone at christmas eve about this. maybe i'm a little obsessed! but i was so excited. and besides my sister reads your blog so ONE person knew what i was talking about. and my cousin was going to be sure to check it out!

Glad she finally warmed up to Daddy. I think it's pretty common for kids to act that way. How confusing it must be for their little minds. BTW is that a USC shirt that Frank is wearing?

Oh bless her heart! I think she was shocked! I bet he was the last person she expected to walk through the door. I know little ones have a hard time at first. I read one story about a little boy who kept his daddy at about a room apart for a day or so until he got used to him! But I'm glad she warmed up quickly! I'm still just so excited for you guys!

I was a military baby too. When I was little, every time my dad would come home, I did the same thing. I am glad that she warmed up. Merry Christmas!
