Excited!!!

magicalkingdoms.com Ticker

We are getting SOOOO excited to leave on Sunday!!!! The limo will be picking us up at 7am... is it funny that I haven't packed yet? Yeah well, those of you who know me aren't surprised at all! LOL

SO we have decided (mostly because EVERYONE who has been there has told us this) that there is NO way we can fit all the parks in and spend time in the Village which we really want to. We really have 5 days to do everything since 2 of the days we'll be traveling. SO here's what I'm thinking, and if you've been there done this, please feel free to give feedback!

Monday - Disney World. I can't WAIT for Kennedy to see the Princesses! She's going to be SO excited!

Tuesday - Universal Studios.

Wednesday - not sure...

Thursday - Animal Kingdom. We've heard this won't take all day (RIGHT?!) and we want to make sure we're back at the Village on Thursday night for "Christmas".

Friday - MGM

We were thinking on Wednesday we might do a second day of Disney, just because I KNOW that's what Kennedy is going to like best. Our other options are Epcot which I've heard the kids probably wouldn't enjoy too much (Right?!) and Sea World. We've been to Sea World... it's been a few years now, and it's fun and all, but it's pretty far from the other parks and the village and I just feel like we've been there, done that. Also, because we're Military we get discounts on Sea World any time we want to go. I don't know, what do you all think?

I still need 1 guest poster to fill up the week, if you're interested! I've already read one of the posts that my friend Lu wrote for you all and it's HILARIOUS! You won't want to miss it! :o)

Here is my opinion for what it's worth. The kids will not enjoy Epcot. Too much thinking and like school. You can get animals anytime so skip Sea World. If you are doing Universal Studios then you might want to consider not doing MGM. They are so similiar. I wasn't impressed with MGM. Just my opinion. Have a great time whatever you do and make sure that Kennedy gets to spend lots of time with the other Sincess.

My kids loved epcot when they were 5 and 8. Its not as boring as it use to be. There's a lot of characters there too. You do realize that u can get a special needs pass that let's u skip lines right?? It is soooo worth it! U get it by going to the town hall in MK and asking for it. Have fun!!!

Animal Kingdom I agree only half a day! WOW! You know Disney is our favorite place! MGM..now Hollywood Studios is also loads of fun because you have a whole area that's Playhouse Disney characters, and shows. Ok, I'm getting really excited just telling you about it, Nov. won't get here soon enough for me..LOL! Also the parade at Hollywood Studios is great, don't miss it! ALL of your kids will enjoy it, dancing in the streets with you, throwing out balls YES, it fun!!!

OK, I could write a whole post about Disney World, email or call me if you want...you may not want to I could go on for days :)

Most of all HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!

We did our schedule according to the park times. I'm not sure if they are different now from when we went in Sept. But most parks are from 10-6 with the exception of the Magic Kingdom which is open until 8 or 9. My kids did not enjoy Sea World other than getting to feed the dolphins which is what you get to do there with the GKTW button. The only thing they enjoyed at Epcot was the Nemo ride and there is a "Talk with Crush" thing there. If you are doing the Princess lunch or dinner, that is also at Epcot.
You guys are going to have sooooo much fun!!!

Have a great, great time!

Do you get head of line privleges?

If so, you can run to Epcot for like 2 things and then leave. The show at night is really nice and then there's that flying ride - the line is ridiculous though so I'd only go if I didn't have to wait.

I've heard wonderful things about AK, but I've never been.

MGM? Eh. For adults, there's not much (2 great rides though). Not sure about kids.

Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios are my favorites.

Renee,
Keep in mind that you really have two different "ages" in your kids. Kass and Kam will want to do some things that will not interest/unable to do for Kenn and Keeg. You might want to split for at least half a day and have Frank take the two older ones and you and your mom take the younger ones. Main thing is have a "PLAN"! Get a map and map it out...otherwise, you waste time talking about what you want to do and where to go.
I know you all will have so much fun and can't wait to see pics!

Without a doubt, you want to do Magic Kingdom in 2 days. There is SOOO much to see and do, that you won't be able to get it all in 1 day. I reccomend going to Mickey's ToonTown Fair to see the Princesses (get there early, like right after the park opensto get in line, otherwise the wait is forever). If you haven't already, check out allears.net. They have lots of great tips and tricks for all of the parks. HAVE FUN!

Skip Sea World because of the ongoing "Hero Salute" program. Also, while I don't know if you will have a chance to make it back there with so much going on this year, but Disney does currently have a military promotion...not completely free like the Sea World one, but free for the military member and $99 for 5 day passes for up to (I think) 5 dependents to Disney World (through Dec 23, 2009) or 3 day passes to Disneyland (through June 2009).

Oh have fun... I think the last time we were there was around the last time you were there? End of Feb. 2006? Funny to think we could have been there at the same time. I had not discovered the world of the Special Ks yet though...

I wish we had done Animal Kingdom when the kids were "fresher" - earlier in the week I mean - and I don't think my kids were interested in Epcot at all (maybe the older ones would be now... they were 6 and 4 when we went). Didn't do MGM that time.

Haven't been to Universal or Sea World, so can't help you there... if I think of anything helpful I'll let you know!

I SO would not be packed by now either... doesn't faze me a bit if you're not.

I say you have it all figured out yourself.......Epcot isnt really for small kids, Sea World, well once you have seen it that is it, so maybe a day of relaxation or more of DISNEY, you can never EVER have to much DISNEY!!!! I hope you all have a blast!! Let me know if you need any help with postings,,,,or updating..

Love, Marci

We only spent 1/3 of a day in Animal Kingdom and that was fine. Aside from the way cool Toy Story ride at MGM (I think it's called Hollywood Studios now) I wasn't impressed. Of course, it was the middle of Tropical Storm Fay when we were there, so that may have dampened my enthusiasm! We only spent 1/2 day there and then spent 1/2 day at EPCOT. The NEMO ride and talk with Crush was cool.

But you must spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom. Too much to see, too much to do!

erika said...

I vote for a 2nd day at Magic Kingdom. I think your kids will like that best. Sea World is a good option though...hmmm...I still vote for another magic kingdom day! Have a wonderful trip!

For some reason, I couldn't comment on the contest winners post. Here's my email address: erikaklitzke@hotmail.com. Email me and I'll send you my home address. I don't care which card I get! I am just excited to have won something!!!! Thanks!

I think you're pretty much on target with what you've got planned.

We haven't done Universal at all so I can't comment much on that. I can only say that we haven't done it yet because friends of ours who HAVE gone there said it's more for older kids and not alot to do for the young ones.

And as for Hollywood Studios, I would suggest you spend the ENTIRE day there. It's kinda tough to do because pretty much everything there is time scheduled, not a "do as you please" thing like Magic Kingdom is. See if you can get your hands on a schedule before you go so you can plan on what you're going to do when...makes it alot easier.

Have fun!!! You guys deserve it!

okay, heres my two cents....
My kids were 14 and 10 when we went, but I saw littler once all over having mid day melt downs. Do not be opposed to leaving the park mid day for a rest period back at the hotel. Epcot might be a little too much for the smaller ones.
Theres is a thing at Disney that you can do where you get to have your little girls made into "sincess" hair, make up, pretty dress and all. I dont have girls, but I bet Kennedy would absolutly LOVE it and since its her wish, it would well worth the extra $$$. (ayone who has girls that can actually gibe some more advice on this)...@Animal Kindgom you must do the bugs life thing. Its absolutely hilarious at the end!!!
Have a blast!

I'll throw my opinion in here...LOL We went last summer, the girls were 7 and 9....

Epcot was a HIT! They LOVED it and are already asking to go back. Its a fun way to learn and there is neat little things to do. MGM was boring to us and we didn't stay long at all, I think 3 hours. Universal is a lot of shows and is good if you kids will sit through them but I liked Islands of Adventure much better. Animal Kingdom is great...you can do it in half day if you get to skip all the lines. I am so sad we can't come meet with you but am praying we'll get to come visit once Kellsey gets home!

I would choose between Epcot, MGM, and Animal Kingdom can all be done in 1/2 days. Between the three, MGM was my first favorite, then Animal Kingdom and my least favorite is Epcot. We went in 2004 and again in 2007 so I'm sure not a whole lot has changed.

Now we did Sea World both times and the iks loved it. Once we paid for a one day admission, they let you stamp your pas for a second visit within 7 days. What was cool about that was they had later hours than some of Disney parks so we would do a 1/2 day somewhere and go back to Sea World and catch some shows.

There is my two sense....

You will be good on missing epcot, it isnt all that great for kids! Disney world is the best! So you will for sure want to spend the most time there!!! Universal is fun! Animal Kingdom is fun too but I dont think it will take a whole day. I want to go back to Disney World SOOO BAD!! Maybe now that Jordan is home we can plan a trip! I hope yall have the BEST time and that Kennedy Loves every minute of the Princesses!!

Actually the older 2 probably would enjoy Epcot but not the younger. You can split up if you are brave and someone go w/ the older 2 epcot and someones else do w/ the younger 2 to disney. We found the animals were most active in the mornings but that might have been due to it being summer. Are y'all getting park hoppers that allow you to go to multiple parks in one day? that is a good thing that way when the younger 2 need a break someone can go to the room w/ them and the other adult take the older 2 somewhere else. Hope y'all have a great time....we can't wait until we go back, sadly it isn't until october :(

maybe i'm a big dork, but i liked epcot. although it may be a bit 'older' for the kiddos. i totally loved universal over mgm as well. it's been a loooooooooooong time since i've been there though. i vote two days at disney. :0) in case it matters you know. i'd totally offer to guest post...but i'm way too random and really don't know what i'd have to say...

I totally agree with 2 days at Disney. NEVER EVER EVER worry about getting to ANYTHING early because of lines, including meeting characters, because never once will you wait in a line. That's part of Make A Wish! I was really glad we took one day for the beach, but that's because Angela had never seen the ocean before, and I was determined she get to do that. LOL

I also have to saw that MGM was boring... my kids liked 3 or 4 things there and then everything else felt outdated or too old for them. But again they loved epcot.. epcot has this around the world tour activity for kids where you have a passport art project that you work on in every country. Plus my daughter loved Japan because she got to by a cool toy in the Japan Store. We ate in Moracco and had bell dancers at our table and I got a cool henna tatoo there. Animal Kingdom is fun but if its too warm (which it shouldnt be) the animals are all sleeping and you cant see them! But the new Mt Everest ride is really fun, too big for Kenn but kylie was big enough at 5 yrs old. I dunno, I am sooooo jealous though! I LOVE disney!! OHHH dont take them on the Dinosaur ride is they are afraid of the dark or loud noises or dont want nightmares for weeks to come!! We made the mistake of going on that first, which kind of made every ride line an anxiety attack for kylie becuz she thought they would be scarey.

My only thought was that maybe move MGM to Wednesday, and do Magic Kingdom on Friday. That way, you will start and end the week with all the 'sincesses.

Well, your timing to come to Florida is perfect. We just finished with our COLD weather and it's supposed to warm up nicely (mid -high 70s), No rain in the forecast! Enjoy your trip.

I would definitely say stay away from Epcot. That was the least fun I think. We actually did MGM twice. That was our favorite ones. If the kids watch all the toddler Disney shows then that's really the place to go. You'll have to be sure to go to Magic Kingdom though for the princesses. When we went we actually stayed very close to Sea World, but never went. If you won't have a car though it might be best to just stick with Disney. Have fun.

By the way, do you need guest posters posts ahead of time?

Difficult choice!

My children absolutely loved epcot, even the younger ones. They still talk about it. My three year old even liked it but then again he likes most things.
However Disney does deserve at least two days. I think it is better to concentrate on just two or three parks and skip the other rather then just skim all the parks.
So I would probably skip Sea World for the reasons you give and then spend two days in disney, one half day in Animal Kingdom, one day Universal studios and the last day chose between Epcot and MGM. Or perhaps two half days in each? Difficult, difficult...

Have a great trip!!!!

Ok...here I go from our experience...

The village will have theme days, so your schedule may be flexible depending on if you want to participate in the programs at the village. We went to Magic Kingdom on the first day. If you plan on doing Animal Kingdom, the recommendation is to go first thing in the morning when the animals are actually awake. You will have a park hopper pass, so you can do Animal Kingdom and then Epcot in the afternoon. There are some cool things to do there.

We had a good time at MGM- there is a Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area (I met up with Di there). You can also meet the characters. Be prepared to be treated like royalty- seriously. Your GKTW/MAW badges that you wear will get you special treatment. You will get extra one on one time with Mickey and other characters. We were able to get into Cinderella's castle for lunch because of those nifty badges!

There wasn't much for us to enjoy at Universal Studios, BUT I think that your kids would have a lot of fun since they know characters and stuff. They have a Dr. Seuss area.

We did go to Sea World, but Ethan didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought he would. So, if you have availability to get in to that at other times, I would skip it too.

We spent another day at Magic Kingdom. That is where we had the most fun.

There is a Wal-Mart on the road to the village, which comes in handy! Also, the road signs there suck. LOL! Once you see the A&W on the right, your turn is close. LOL! We did so many u-turns while in Florida, it wasn't funny.

You will get passes once you get to the village that lets you go to the front of the line or up the handicap entrance. No lines. It's fabulous. AND, you can even get them to let you and Frank go while Mom waits with the kids if there is a ride that the two of you want to go on.

That's all for my book today. Have a great time!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Renee...we did DW this past summer. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! I would skip Epcot, if you run out of time. Although our kids, ages 2-11, enjoyed going to the different "countries" and getting their "passports" stamped. Also, we ate lunch in a different country each day! :) I would DEFINITELY repeat Magic Kingdom...it is just too...well...um..MAGICAL to not see again. We ended up there the last day, which was perfect. The kids loved Animal Kingdom and MGM. You will love it all! I have bad knees/back, so we got a "handicapped" thing the moment we arrived the first day, and we never waited in a line, not even the character signings! Just walked right through every single place, it acted like a fastpass. I am now known as "the secret weapon" for DW visits...perfect person to take with you! :)

ENJOY!!!!

As you know, we love Epcot, and think MGM is only okay. While there are a lot of educational areas in Epcot, it has changed a lot and there are a lot of great rides too...Test Track, Nemo, Soarin', Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

You do have two different ages, as someone pointed out (can't remember if you said Kass and Kam were ride kids?), so I would split if you have the option...but if not, I would keep in mind that it is Kennedy's MAW trip so maybe tailor things to her? Kass and Kam aren't old enough that ANYTHING is going to be a complete drag, like it might if they were a little older. Well, maybe Bear in the Big Blue House, lol.

Whatever you do, have a blast! Can't wait to see pics!

Make sure you take advantage of the character meets at the village.Great pics and more one on one time.

OK... so you might not get this in time... but what about Aquatica for Wednesday??? It is Sea World's water park. Maybe half day at sea world and half day at aquatica water park.

Haha, I know I'm late, but my advice is to scrap Universal all together...it's not that fun, really. And any ride based on a non-G movie (most of them) will probably give the kids nightmares...my brother is 11 now and still has a few! Well, this is based on the Cal. one, but I assume they're not that different. And then just add in another day of Magic Kingdom...it's the best part :o) IMHO (seriously...best few days of my life!) Oh, and the kids will love Animal Kingdom! Expect to be there all day!
