Today I took Kassidy, Kameron and Kennedy to the dentist for a check up and cleaning. Once I got there they asked if I wanted to have Keeghan looked at too. He's never been, they usually start at age 2, but he's close and this way they'll all be on the same schedule.
Kassidy got x-rays this time and her cleaning. Kameron just got his cleaning. They both do great and I don't go back with them anymore. I do go back with Kennedy though and it's a good thing I did! She has never had any problems before but this time she freaked out when we tried to lay her down. I couldn't figure it out and then it finally dawned on me that she thought the lights above the chair was a CT machine! Her dreaded enemy! We showed her what the light did... no spinning, no noise, she wouldn't be trapped and she calmed down and did GREAT after that! Oh and she has a loose tooth which is crazy to me! She didn't get her first tooth until 19 months old and it was a molar, so I was surprised when they said one of her bottom front ones is loose already! I don't think I'm ready for her to start losing teeth!
While they were cleaning her teeth, Keeghan fell asleep in the stroller. When she was done they woke him up and he was NOT happy! Poor guy! He screamed for the entire exam but that meant he wasn't biting their dentist so I guess it worked out.
Anyway, NO cavities for any of them!!! YAY!!! The sealants they put on Kass' back teeth last time have come off already. They said she will need those teeth crowned eventually... something with the enamel being too weak (???). In the meantime we have a special toothpaste with extra fluoride to use once a day to help back there. SO all that to say, I'm so glad the kids don't have problems with cavities like I did as a kid! :) YAY for 6 more months down! :)

Woohoo, no cavities!!
:( first loose tooth makes me sad too. Especially when it seems way to soon!
Taylor has had sealants put on her back teeth twice and is slowly getting them crowned...she had one done a few weeks ago and one set to be done next week. She has no enamel in some spots, they say it is due to the high fevers she had as a baby and all the antibiotics (she used to get ear infections every month). Yay for your kiddos on no cavities. Madison had 3 filled a few weeks ago...they put her in Children's and knocked her out to do. I am positive the dentist thought it was his best decision ever :)
I had a funky tooth with weak enamel. About three weeks ago they were working on a cracked filling on that tooth (one of the four fillings in that tooth). Well, after 26 years of sealants, fillings, and covering it with everyone other compound that they could come up with... It finally fell apart while they were removing the old filling. So, I got my first crown... I wish they would have done it years ago. It's the best money I've put in my mouth.
I brought my son to the orthodontist today- after 2 plus years of an expander and braces-
we were told they might come off next month!
Don't we spend so much time at
the dentist- cleanings- filings-
sealants- extractions!
My son had sealants and I was
told insurance won't cover them after the age of 14?
Oh well one more thing to pay for!
Good to hear your kids did well
today!!
Glad it went well!
I always come back to these verses. It never ceases to amaze me that the Holy Ghost Himself prays for us! He's praying for you! There's no greater comfort than that!
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Is the weak enamel linked to any of those candy wrappers you found hidden not too long ago ;) JK
Funny, we're off to the dentist tomorrow morning. I just saw something on TV the other day about these awful dentist offices that tie and strap kids down and won't let parents go back with them, they all but torture the poor kids, it's awful. I could never send my kid back by his or herself!!!! Crazy!
Ok, Random, I know. I sent your package today!!!
That's great news all around. I'm afraid to take Kaia back to the dentist now after what they found last time she went! And all of that occured in the time frame BETWEEN her regular 6 month appointments.
And Kennedy has a loose tooth? That's WAY crazy!
I am taking it that they want to put a crown on one of Kass permament teeth? Because if not, it is a waste of money to crown a tooth that will be falling out anyways. Glad your kids have healthy teeth. Wish I knew that feeling. I have horrible teeth. :(
Aidan has had a couple of permanent teeth crowned already - he has an enamel problem that is supposedly genetics/antibiotic related (KING of ear infections as a baby, I think he was born with one). Ava's front teeth came IN with the enamel not coming down all the way, so I see a lot of dentist activity in her future as well...
Yay for great checkups for the K's! And glad Kennedy was OK and that Keeghan... didn't bite the dentist.
Can I just bow down to your for handling 4 kids at the dentist???? OMG you are a superwoman!
Wow, a loose tooth!! I'm not ready for Lexy to lose her teeth either, and I thought maybe she wouldn't for awhile, but now hearing Kennedy is loosing her tooth, I'll have to be on the look out!! I don't want our baby girls to grow up :-(!!!
A loose tooth?!?!?! Aaack! Kayla has a dentist check up on Thursday and I hope she doesn't have any loose teeth. I don't think I want to deal with that, LOL.
I hear that alot about weak enamel on teeth. Sometimes I wonder what must be going on with the water these days or something to weaken the teeth so much. I never had problems until I got older. So glad that was the only problem you had to encounter on your trip yesterday!
is it bad i've never taken the kiddos to the dentist? i can't believe i'm admitting it. but seriously why don't the offer dental insurance to all people. for cheap. that's the key. so if my kids teeth fall out at age five. blame me. :0)
NO CAVITIES!!!!!!!!!!
That is awesome. I LOVE going to the dentist!!
Girl go with the crowns.. my dentist said the same thing when I was a kid but my parents couldn't afford them. Now in my 30's even being a good brusher my back teeth are starting to break.. ugh...
