Is it Spring yet?

I am SO ready for Winter... and all the illnesses it brings with it... to GO AWAY! Kameron complained of a headache after school yesterday. We took Kennedy to therapy and by the time we left he looked really pale. When we got home I took his temp and it was over 101. SO I gave him Motrin and it went back to normal. He said his headache went away so I thought maybe it was a fluke.

He woke up at 3am crying saying that his head hurt again. He came over to my bed and he was burning up! He was over 103. I made him a bed on my floor, gave him more Motrin and he slept until 9 or so this morning. He's my early riser so this was REALLY sleeping in for him.

When he woke up his temp was still over 101 so more Motrin and now it's not coming down. I gave him a dose of Tylenol too but right at the moment he's over 104 and he still has over an hour before he can have more medication. The only thing he's complaining about is a headache and his eyes hurting.

Kassidy is home today too with a sore throat... no fever, but I suspect Kam may have strep... he never has a sore throat with strep... so I figured I may as well get Kassidy tested too. We go see the doctor at 1:20. So far Kenn and Keeghan are feeling ok and running circles around their siblings.

Spring can come ANY time, I'm waiting!

Sounds like Strep to me! Ryan just got over it. All he had was a headache and fever for the first 2 days, his throat didn't start til day 3. I hope everyone feels better soon!

Oh poor Kameron. Hope he gets some relief soon. Yep, I've got Aidan home mostly 'cause he slept in late (he's usually raring to go at 6:15) with red eyes and nose, runny, warm... and I think Ava threw up a few minutes ago (unless she just gagged on something) and I have had intestinal something or other since last night which seems to be getting worse. Woo hoo! Spring PLEASE!

Oh yuck. That's the way we were last week. No fun. I hope the kids get better. And hey if it's strep at least you know those antibiotics should make them all better quickly, right? Here's to kids going back to school tomorrow and no one else getting sick.

I would def. rather strep than the flu, at least you can get a shot.If it's strep will you treat the 2 little ones so they dont get it or just wait it out? Hope your kiddos get to feeling better real soon.

I don't get headaches with strep, but my sister does! Once she was afraid she was having a stroke or something crazy and went to the ER. Turned out to be strep. I hope he feels better soon!!!!

So sorry to hear some of your bunch is under the weather :( Caleb never complains of a sore throat when he has strep either, he just runs a high fever and is tired. Aren't kids funny how they don't "follow the rules" all the time when it comes to being sick. Hope everyone is feeling better really soon. And I too am ready for winter to go away (and the rain too, who wants 5 days of rain?).

A couple of tips on the Motrin/Tylenol thing. The first it sounds like you are already doing but you can alternate every three hours between them. I've had to do it also where i'm giving Tylenol every 4 hours. That's where the 2nd tip comes in... talk to your doctor about what max dosage you can give on both based on how high the fever is. When my son had pneumonia, I had to have our ped. paged on a Sunday and he gave me a schedule to follow which included giving higher doses based on his weight when the fever was higher than 101.5. They have magic formulas that we aren't privy to. Hope everyone feels better soon! :)
