Should I be offended?!

We were out of diapers so I took Keeghan and Kennedy to Wal-Mart today. While we were checking out, the cashier was talking to Kennedy and then looked over at Keeghan and said, "Oh and look at you in your stripes... they really bring out your... thighs! I will never understand why mothers dress their babies in stripes. SURELY they would never put stripes on their OWN legs." I wasn't really sure what to say to her, so I just smiled and said, "yeah, good thing he can pull it off, huh?"

I think Keeghan was a little offended too.

I worked in retail when I was in high school. I had a woman come up to me and say "excuse me, what pants are you wearing? I want my daughter to try them on. She has big legs just like you do"

Tell Keeghan he and I can don some stripes and cruise wal-mart. thighs and all

Huh, that was a little rude I think. You handled it well though. Who cares about a baby's thighs anyways? That's the only time you can get away with having big thighs.

Don't be offended, baby thighs are cute, especially if they are pudgy!!!

Do you think that maybe she said "eyes", and it just sounded like "Thighs"? Did the checker lady have an accent? Cause those stripes do kind of bring out his eyes. =]

Renee--strange happenings on my computer so can't post below

I've been a Disney nerd nearly my entire life so i can easily answer the Goofy question(though why anyone would think he is a cow is beyond me.

The character now known as Goofy first appeared in a 1932 short called "Mickey's Revue". In all the sketches of him, and in the identifying credits he is called "Dippy Dog"

Dippy made several apperances. However, it was in 1934 that the Goofy we know today showed up.

Just like Mickey(originally known as steamboat willy), his name had changed and he looked a little younger and sharper.

Goofy has always been a dog.
Oh! And Pluto? Come now people!!! That dear pet is owned by mickey!!

So please stop this absurd notion that Goofy is a cow(!!!???)

What a bizarre thing to say!

I can't decide whether that's rude or not, but it's definitely odd!

When my son was Keeghan's age- I
called my son Mitchell "Mitchy"
The cashier said- you named your
son Mitchy? in a very condescending tone- I said his name was actually Mitchell...
(I still sometimes call him
Mitchymoo- but never in front
of anyone!)

I love little kids in stripes-
why would anyone say a negative
thing about kids-especially your
cute kids!!

Aren't stripy baby tights and pants stripy for the whole purpose of showing the adorable chubby thighs off? But what a rude woman to say that thing.

Sometimes I wonder! yesterday someone came up to me and said, "look at that gray hair you're getting! It must be from your kids!" O.K. thanks!

HUH? There is absolutely nothing about that comment that makes the least bit of sense!

I probably would've said something to the effect of, "But at least his thighs are polite!"
