So? Your fridge is full now of Thanksgiving leftovers... what is the first thing you go for today? What dish rocked your world yesterday? Are you a turkey fanatic, or do you go for the side dishes first? Do you cover everything in gravy, or just the mashed potatoes? Do you call it stuffing or dressing... and is it cornbread or oyster?!
My favorites were the deviled eggs, of course! My mom makes the best in the world! And the stuffing (cornbread), and the cranberries (real, not canned! LOL)! I'm actually not a big fan of the turkey. It's ok the first day, but then I'm over it. LOL
Then there's Kameron... He has been dreading Thanksgiving since July. He hates it ALL... the turkey, the stuffing, the potatoes, the cranberries, the gravy, the casseroles, EVERYTHING.... he hates it! "WORST day of the year," he says. How sad is that?! But yesterday it was grandma to the rescue... she surprised him and made him a special plate of ravioli just for him. He was a happy camper and declared this the best Thanksgiving EVER... and there was no gagging at the dinner table. Go Grandma! LOL Then we had a long discussion about why they DON'T serve ravioli for Thanksgiving in Italy. Hmmm... LOL (Please tell me YOU know why!!)
Kassidy and I attempted to make cookies afterwards from a recipe someone passed along to me, but... it just didn't end up working out like the picture! LOL We still had fun though... and the kids still ate them, I guess that's what counts, right?! :)
I hope you all had a great day and made lots of fun memories with your loved ones!

Turkey and ham are my favorites but no leftovers for us. We have 2 more dinners this weekend :) Oh, we call it dressing!
Our town celebrates Thanksgiving together, so I have no left-overs (think they were taken to a food bank). Well, yes, I do: wrinkled hands. I was the primary washer of pots and pans! I'm always the p&p washer. Nonetheless, I think a community Thanksgiving dinner is rare and worth any effort any of us put into it -- all told, we each do less work than if we all prepared our own, and there is a large enough population here that would not have a Thanksgiving meal at all that also makes it worth while for another reason.
i am a mash potato and gravy person ooh but my favorite is the rolls. i love LOVE LOVE the rolls
I'm in England....we don't do thanksgiving!
I think you're thanksgiving dinner is pretty much what we do for christmas here though - HUGE turkey dinner with all the trimmings - personally i love the red cabbage but I've no idea if you have that!!!
I can't wait for my christmas dinner now! But then my American uncle has told me that there is no big turkey dinner in America at christmas its more of a buffet snack day :( oh well I suppose you can't eat that much in one day more than once a year ;)
Okay, it's stuffing. Dressing goes on your salad. And they don't have Ravioli in Italy for Thanksgiving because they don't celebrate Thanksgiving ;).
I have no leftovers. Except for some ham. I barely got to eat yesterday. We were late to my parents house. We told them we would be though because Joe had to work. So we got there and they were eating dessert. They made us serve ourselves and all there really was left was ham and turkey. There was about half a cup of broccoli and cauliflower left to split between 5 of us. About a 1/4 cup of sweet potatoes for the kids to split. And maybe a cup of mashed potatoes for the 5 of us. So I totally was not full and came home still hungry. My mom did send us home with some ham. I would normally like to have one left over turkey dinner normally, but that's definitely not happening this year. I can't say I made too many good memories this year. It was nice seeing my aunt, uncle, cousin, and her fiance. But the minute they left my parents started in on us. So we had to scoot out of there and were both very frustrated. Oh and hungry.
Hey,
sounds like you had a pretty fun Thanksgiving. I'm from Europe and can therefore tell Kameron that there is no ravioli for thanksgiving in Italy because they don't have Thanksgiving. If they did, I'm sure they'd eat ravioli. ;)
Love,
Linda
Heehee others beat me to the punch - no thanksgiving in Italy = no ravioli!
I'm with Kameron on this one - I don't like turkey and I'm indifferent about the side dishes (except for mashed potatoes) and so aside from breakfast (don't like breakfast-y foods) it's one of my least favorite meals of the year.
Now, if I could have just mashed potatoes, baked ham, and some VEGETABLES (anything green, really...my extended family doesn't believe in veggies) for thanksgiving, I would be a very happy person! And if I could eat pasta (my favorite food) like Kam did, Thanksgiving would be awesome!
I'm Canadian- our Thanksgiving is in October. Every year when you have your Thanksgiving I crave turkey with all the fixings! I could almost smell all that good food- but I'll have to wait for Christmas for turkey.
Why don`t they serve ravioli for Thanksgiving in Italy ??? LOL Renee surely you know that Thanksgiving is only celebrated in Canada and the U.S.
When i was a kid, i didn't like the holiday dinners. Guess what my mom used to make me...Raviolis!!!
Too funny. Guess my taste buds changed because i love it all now.
I'm totally a turkey person. I can't get enough. Mac and Cheese comes in at a close second. I actually made a butternut squash lasagna one year for my family but perhaps next time I will do raviolis!
No leftovers here... wasn't enough left to bring any home. :) We call it stuffing. I put gravy on my turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. I'm a mashed potatoes girl all the way. I think my plate could be 1/2 mashed potatoes and gravy, and the other 1/4 stuffing, and 1/4 turkey and I'd be happy. Then I'd feel guilty not having any veggies. Ha!
Well, we're in England as well and so the Italy question wasn't difficult for me lol. They don't have thanksgiving either.
Charlotte, I don't think they know what the red cabbage is in the US. AND having just seen a children's DVD on food that showed a Thanksgiving meal I can say that it is indeed way more food than our Christmas dinners lol!
But, we do have a larger meal at Christmas! And reading all the blogs from the US banging on and on about your dinners is making me HUNGRY! lol
Yesterday I was so busy I just didn't take the time to make myself any food until dinner time and I've never been so hungry at a meal as I was last night! lol
So, glad you had a lovely holiday!
We attended a very interesting Thanksgiving Dinner. The goal was to focus on being grateful for little, not just a lot. We were served a slice of cheese on a hamburger bun and a choice of 3 flavors of jello. That's all. It was a good reminder that not everyone has the abundance we often have.
You know I never really was a big turkey fan either until I started eating it with cranberry sauce..Now I love it :P
Candied yams are a fave..Not sure why I don't make them more often...YUMMM
Sounds like your Thanksgiving was a good one!!!
would you believe it if I told you there are no leftovers here? We didn't bring any home. I didn't even eat that much. how strange!
My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is my mother's dressing (not stuffing).

When I get the post up for the best cookies ever and super easy, I'lll have to give you a shout.
Coming soon.
Renee, I just have to tell you I LOVE that there's another family that fed one of their kids ravioli for Thanksgiving. One of my autistic boys will eat nothing on a Thanksgiving table & the other eats just the mashed potatoes.
It's nice to know we're not the only family like this. :)
We are in Alabama. We have a huge Christmas dinner that is identical to the one we have on Thanksgiving! Definitely dressing (from cornbread), canned cranberry sauce WITHOUT pieces in it. I can't believe all the reports of mashed potatoes...we have a huge meal (everyone brings more than 1 thing) but no mashed potatoes. Hmmmm...maybe we've been missing out on something. We usually have potato salad as one of the many things that day. The giblet gravy we eat on the cornbread dressing. There is always much left over and we all eat together again that night and sometimes the next day.
Sounds like a great meal for Kameron! Max had pizza.
