Yesterday I had to take Kameron to the doctor for an ear infection, so I took the little girls with me and Frank took Kassidy and Keeghan with him to the DEERS office on Post to get her card made. She was so excited!!
She has taken it out of her purse about 50 times to look at it, and she keeps asking what she can DO with it... since we don't live on Post and we rarely go there, the answer would be, "not much!" LOL But it's still cool to have and when we DO go on Post she can show it at the gate.
I had to laugh though because the guy taking down her info asked how much she weighed and she didn't know and neither did Frank and so the guy said, "Well, I'm pretty sure 10 year olds weight about 55 pounds, so I'll just put that." Hmmm I'm thinking this guy doesn't have any kids! haha Oh well, better than 155, I guess! HA!
Here are some pictures from the event...

Waiting...
Getting ready to smile for the camera
Keeghan has just a FEW more years before he gets one! ;)
So excited!
Signing her name to put on the card
Kassidy with her first ID card... before I know it, it will be a driver's license. Heaven help me.

Jakob was so excited when he turned 10 for exactly the same reason! He LOVES having his own ID card. I always let him pay for stuff at the PX just so he can use it :)
That's pretty cool actually. Something that would totally be up my daughter's alley ;). They love having little cards in their wallet and purse. I think it makes them feel more grown up. A rite of passage for sure. None of her other siblings have one. And it's got her name and picture on it. Pretty cool. So do they ask you for your weight for your military id? That's a little too personal for me when you're not 10 ;).
I remember how excited my neice was to get her own ID card when she turned 10. WTG Kassidy!
My kids love to get their *base license*! lol there is always a count down to that 10th birthday!!
Congrats Kassidy!!!!
Perhaps she can know pass for legal age and have her first beer?!?...LOL
I remember getting my ID card. Not certain what happened to it...not that I could use it anymore as it had my maiden name on it and we live nowhere near a base so I would have any place to use mine.
Did you get her a super-cool new wallet to put her super-cool new ID card in?
Congratulations, Kassidy. DH was a young 1st LT when we married. As soon as we returned from our honeymoon, first stop was on Post to get all the needed papers filled out, so I would be a legal dependent. I think we still have a stack of notarized copies of our marriage license in our safe. Guess we'll need them some day...like when one of us dies!
Good for dad for taking pictures to document! Was he instructed to do this? ;)
Seriously Renee! I can see her in the exact same pose as the last picture in 5 more years. Won't that be fun??!!
Kayce
My kids were always excited too. Wait..they prob don't remember their adventure since we were dual military and go them when they were days old, LOL
But they were excited when they got new ones!! And they never use them..only when I send one of them into the shoppette for milk or something, LOL
Awww. She looks so proud!
Congrats Kassidy!
Continuing to pray!
Psalm 71:5-8 For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

I was so excited when Jack and I got married and I got my ID. I was so excited that I signed my maiden name! We got ahlf way to the car when I realized that so we had to go back in. Everyone laughed at me!
How fun! I remember getting my first military ID card- wish I still had it, I bet I looked like a doofus. :)
I enjoyed reading all the Christmas posts!
Awww I remember getting MY first military ID card!! I was super excited too!! AND guess what?? It was in the SAME DEERS place! Gosh can't believe I'm THAT old....haha before you know it you'll be in the DEERS office showing proof of Kassidy being in college so she can still get the insurance..and fighting with the rude ladies!! haha just playing!!
So sweet!
55 pounds, huh? funny!
You can see the excitement in her face.
You're so right about this 'rite of passage'!! I still remember the day my dad came home and told me to get in the car because we were going to get my ID card - very exciting :) Of course not so exciting if you don't live on base LOL I still have that ID picture too :)
Kudos to Frank for capturing this milestone with the camera :)
Somehow I missed this post but found the link on your Q&A. I had to laugh about the 10 year olds weighing 55lbs thing! Yeah, skinny 10 year olds! lol I just weighed Jas the other day and she was 78lbs! She's grown a ton since last year but I was shocked she weighed that much! And she's small compared to all her friends! You're right though...at least it wasn't 155! lol
she can get discounts at stores and such. my son has had an ID since he was 6 months old.
