Kellsey continues to do well! She woke up a few times last night... she didn't cry or anything but every time she woke up, I did too... and sometimes I woke up even when she didn't! haha She was awake for about an hour and half last night just laying in bed looking around. She was fine, just... awake. She never tried to get out of bed or anything though. I am feeling the effects of no sleep today! I guess I just need to get my mind to relax, I just want to make sure she is safe! This morning she and Keeghan have been having fun playing. Kellsey has figured out the stairs now and they spent some time going up and down, up and down! haha She put on Keeghan's shoes which she thought was hilarious. She REALLY likes shoes! We're still playing a guessing game on her foods... she is not too fond of pancakes, but she seems to like cereal pretty well. I wish we could get her to eat more. I guess when she gets hungry enough, she will!
Anyway, just a quick update and a picture of Kennedy and Kellsey before school this morning. I am going to get Kellsey down for a nap and maybe close my eyes for a little bit too before I have to go get the kids. More later! :)

Such a sweet picture! I think getting up at night is very normal! Kinda like having a newborn baby! I was like that with Reese, but it got better once I realized I should take advantage of her being a good sleeper..it helped that Reese was small enough for a crib, too. I'm so happy for you guys! Kellsey reminds me of Reese...it must be their Ukrainian blood! :)
So glad she is doing good!! She is so darn cute. I can't wait to meet her!!!
great news to hear how well it's going! In the picture of Kennedy and Kellsey sitting on the couch together it doesn't look like Kennedy is that much taller than Kellsey, but wow in this pic you can really tell!
I wonder if Kellsey's body will had to get used to/adjust to American food... I'm sure it's a lot different diet then she was used to getting in Ukraine.
How wonderful to have her home with your family!
Love the picture :) They are adorable together...Glad to she's adjust good so far it seems :) Happy Holiday's to your family!!!
Awww to cute...Both girls are so sweet...Love the outfits...
Oh, they are going to be so much fun to dress alike ;). Do you have her in a crib or a bed? She probably learned early on that crying doesn't do much good. Jet lag and a new house though definitely makes it difficult too I'm sure. So are you getting Keeghan and Kellsey on the same nap time? Or trying to at least. Are you still pinching yourself making sure this is all real? Everytime I see you post I just can't believe it's real ;).
By the way, I have a friend from Poland. I'm not sure if they do Borsch (sp?) there or not too, but I'm going to ask her. Maybe she has a good recipe if you haven't found one already.
They look so adorable! It's so exciting seeing her with you guys now and that she is doing well in adjusting! Congrats again on your new Daughter~!
They are so cute together! Do you have moderatly matching outfits for all three girls?
The two girls are so sweet :)
You are going to have so much fun dressing them alike. So cute!! I would be the same as you during the night. Worried that she might get up and be disoriented and wander around or something. I just can't get enough of seeing pictures of her with your family!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
Is it possible that Kellsey's appetite is thrown off by the time change? Like what time is it in the morning vs night in the 2 diff. countries?....It'll take some time as you know I'm sure for her to get used to it all.
UGH, still super excited for you guys!

I STILL can't believe your little girl is home!!The picture is darling and the two of them are precious beyond words!!
Jet lag could be part of the problem w/ being awake in the middle of the night. Or it could be "orphanage behavior". I always thought that Luke was a great sleeper; it was one of the questions I was often asked in regards to his autism. Turns out he knew how to lay quietly in the crib.
Different water and food can also be making her feel out of sorts.
Sounds like you are all doing WONDERFUL.
What a sweet picture! It sounds like Kellsey is doing really well! I've enjoyed reading about her homecoming and seeing all of the pictures. What an amazing story!
Wow!! I just have to say this whole journey has been amazing to watch unfold. I loved every minute of it so far and am thankful that you are continuing to keep us all updated. I have enjoyed all the pictures and the wonderful tales of how you are all doing. She is priceless. :)
wow have you pinched yourself yet? i love the pic of the girls in matching sweaters...priceless...get some sleep!
The picture is just too cute! they look just like the sisters they are! It's so great for her to finally be home!
Beautiful girls, and so cute together!

Adorable picture. Hey, I saw a jar of Borscht at the grocery store here and thought of Kellsey. So if you can't find a recipe, you might be able to find it in your local grocery store.
Oh and her appetite will probably get better in time. Foods here in the US that we think of as common might have never been served to her before. Like pancakes and peas. She's probably uneasy eating unfamiliar foods, but I'm sure she will start trying things (watching her siblings will help, maybe she will try copying them). Tummy aches might happen too. Even when I went from college food, to home made stuff during breaks my stomach was very angry with the change.
Some kids just like different things. My son loves pickled beets - eeew!
I wonder if the reason she is up at night is due to jet lag. My husband often travels to Europe for business and he has a hard time sleeping through the night when he returns because of the jet lag.

Love that pic! They look so perfect together - they were just meant to be sisters! Has Kellsey started saying any english words yet?
Dear Garcia Family,
I have been following your blog for quite some time now and I am so happy for your family. It sounds like Kellsey has blended right into your family.
I read about her getting up at night for a little while and being a picky eater. I am a military spouse and we previously lived overseas and I wanted to give you a few words of encouragement. First, only being up for a little while each night is GREAT!! Getting over jet lag is extremely difficult. At least she doesn't want to get up and play like my children did every time we traveled home. Also, as for her being a picky eater, having eaten foreign foods for several years, I know first hand that they definitely have different taste in food than we do. Even there sweets are not as sweet as ours. She might think that some of the foods are too sweet, salty, spicy, etc. Also, being in a baby home for her entire life, I am sure that she hasn't been exposed to the variety of foods that your other children have.
I love reading about your family and I am excited to read about the exciting things yet to come.
Sincerely,
LaWanda

I think about you guys every day! I'm so glad things are going well! I can't imagine the adjustment for her... I'm sure she'll do well, though, with the amazing family she has now! Keep us all updated! We love hearing about your new family of SEVEN! (Whew... makes me tired even THINKING about 5 kiddos!! *smile*)
Sounds like things are going very smooth so far. I'm sure Kellsey will warm up to new foods and the sleeping all night thing. She is adorable!

They look just too adorable! Kennedy looks that she is SOO excited to be standing next to Kellsey! It kind of looks like Kellsey wears a bigger size clothes then Kennedy does. Is Kellsey still in diapers? Are you guys going to be working on her to be in panties?
Amanda
Oh my ..could they be any cuter ?? I am so happy Kellsey is home :) what an amazing adventure you all have been on. I wondered if Kennedy is taking an interest in kellsey or no more then the other kids? I so wish we could adopt another child but my dh feels that a ds child would be too much with 4 other kiddos, since they would be a "child" forever...as a parent what are your thoughts as far as a ds child being harder? if that is even the right word to use, do you see the parenting as harder or just different (like it can be with each child.)? Love your beautiful kiddos :)
Cute..Cute...Cute photo! Sadly these children who live in baby homes learn to lie quietly out of fear. They learn quickly to do what they are told. NOT normal behavior for a 26 month old. She should be up & checking things out. And, while you don't want that in the middle of the night, it is kind of sad. Hopefully she will learn that she won't be punished for normal 2 year old behavior! That she has PARENTS (YEAH!) :D who will guide and teach her through life. If you're concerned about her nutrition, maybe supplement with some Ensure to give her the things her body needs while she's adjusting to all this new food. Maybe try some string cheese? Good protein without strong flavor and yogurt, too. Does it make you a little crazy to get others opinions? :) Love, Jo
Sisters!! :D I hope you can settle down enough to get good sleep tonight! I'd be antsy too!
