Easy peasy but a home remedy.
PUt flour in a dry skillet and cook on med. heat until it is browned. Put in freezer to cool and then sprinkle on butt :). It works. I always used it :)
Desitin Creamy or Mustela.. That stuff is AWESOME.. I use the whole line on Maddie, clears up eczema right away, when her baby acne was bad this was the only thing to clear it up.. Diaper rash, haven't had a bad one yet, but this cleared up it right away. Apparently the only place in Cville to carry it is once upon a child on Wilma Rudolph. And yes I spell checked just for you!
I like Bourdeaux's Butt Paste best, but it's kind of expensive. I 'settle' for Aveeno or ORIGINAL Desitin when I *MUST* use diaper cream. I tend to prefer Bag Balm for almost everything, though. It doesn't sting like zinc oxide creams do, and it heals like nothing else. I use it for all sorts of owies...butts or otherwise. :) And one of those big green cans will last FOREVER.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste. They have it pretty much everywhere...Walmart, Target...
Desitin! When our now 30 yr old daughter was a baby & in Vandy for Bacterial Meningitis (twice), the meds were horrible on her delicate bottom! They could not get the rash cleared up. I came home & got the Desitin & it did what doctors couldn't do. I am a Desitin fan.
Good luck with the problem.

Aveeno! I love all Aveeno products and the diaper rash cream is great.
I had a sample once for Mustela and loved that, too, but I've had a hard time finding it in stores.
Brodie had a really horrible rash a while ago that I couldn't put diaper rash cream on (it actually made it worse). My boss told me to use Milk of Magnesia. It cuts the sting of the urine. That worked pretty well, too, in that situation!
Magic Butt cream!!!!
Desitin in the PURPLE tube, with some cornstarch to keep it from sticking to the diaper. (you can put the cornstarch in the diaper first)
I like the max strength A&D ointment best!
Desitin, as mentioned, is of course a classic and does work; as well as Boudreaux's Butt Paste, which was the highest recommendation from the docs I worked for in IL. It's a funny name, but good stuff.
PICU Butt Paste: 1 part Desitin, 1 part Aquaphor, 1 part Eucerine, & one part Zinc - clears up anything Christopher gets right away, esp. if he is having blowouts
This is what I got from my nursing friends.
1/2 tube of Desitin Cream
1/2 tube of A&D Ointment
1 Tbs Liquid Maalox
1 Tbs Triple Antibiotic Ointment.
Mix all together in a container and use as needed. Don't know how cheap but sounds like it would work very well. This was given to them by a pediatrician. Good Luck! Ginger
Pour Milk of Magnesia right in the diaper!
Well, it's not really a diaper rash cream, but aquaphor has worked better than the Nystatin cream the doctor has prescribed. Never had diaper rash before that would not clear up with desitin until CJ. Thankfully he doesn't get rashes a lot, but when he does he gets them bad and the aquaphor is the only thing that will clear them up.
So does this mean that Kellsey finally pooped and she now has a raw bottom and you're looking for the best and fastest way to clear it up?
Resinol - it is behind the pharmacy counter (no prescription necessary). It is like a thick calamine lotion and takes away the redness in the first application.
I know it sounds weird, but our doctor suggested Bag Balm, it's for dairy cows with chapped utters. It's the only thing that every worked for our kids. It's in a square, green, tin can in the pet isle. I know, weird, but it works great!
Never used diaper cream for any of my kids - I always used caldesene powder. Always worked for me.

Beaudreax's Butt Paste! It works great on bug bites too!
I think it really depends what is causing the diaper rash! If it is fungal/yeast then over the counter women's yeast cream works wonders.
For all rashes make sure baby's bum is really dried after each change, use a hairdryer on cool setting (obviously) to dry in all the little crevices and between the rolls =) This is really important for yeast/fungal/thrush rashes.
Drying with a hairdryer helps so much as does diaper free time where possible.
For creams I have used A+D (blue tube) and Boudreaux and for my sensitive boy I love mustela (and it smells fantastic!).
Calmoseptine!!!!!! Was given this by Doctors while my baby was on chemo and she got c-diff and she was RAW, I mean RAW!!!!! Its thick and pink and will stick and still be sticking to the butt after a BM. It is OTC in a good hometown pharmacy. I add Lotermine 1% if yeast rears its ugly head. Soak her rear in Betadine (just enough to look like watered down coke) to clean good! Hope she feels better soon. Good Luck
do not laugh but if there is any chance that it is yeast then skip the kid stuff and go straight to adult monistat and try it, if you chill it is feels better
What works best for us is Triple Paste. If I can't get triple paste, I use Boudreaux's Butt All Natural Butt Paste. I also use hydrocortisone 2x a day.
Beudroux's Butt Paste! Works quickly and on almost anything.
lots of potty talk today lol. We would add a little maalox or any antacid to desitin not too much or it gets slimy and put that on the hiney and it nuetralizes the acid and lets the poor bottom heal up.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste is the top of the line around here - heals blowouts after Landon had reactions from gluten.
equal parts maalox and aquafor! it works on everything!
I mix a tube of desitin (has to be brand name for some reason), tube of aquaphor and then enough liquid maalox to make a thick cream. I call it Mama's butt paste and it works every time!!!
i love the butt paste. but i also have a new found love for earth mama angel baby bottom balm!
I swear by the Lansinoh Clean and Condition Cloths for Breastfeeding Moms. I used them one day when I had run out of wipes and Braedens rash cleared up before the next diaper change!!

Desitin Cream and A&D Ointment
We love triple paste here. Thankfully we haven't had a diaper rash in awhile...but if we do...triple paste takes it away really quickly. Sometimes I even use it on his chapped cheeks (on his face that is LOL)
I'm a huge fan of Burt's Bees Diaper Ointment. I like it better than the Desitin and better than the boudreaux butt paste.
Also, have you considered switching to a chlorine free diaper? like, Seventh Generation, Earth's Best, Nature BabyCare, Whole Foods Brand.... They are kinda pricey, but I notice E gets rashes when I try to use brands that aren't chlorine free.
I'm not a mom but I was a busy babysitter for many many years. We no longer carry this product at the store, because they've started selling to Walmart and other discount stores, but Burt's Bees used to have a really awesome diaper ointment that was all natural and got RAVE reviews from our customers. I'm not positive that the all-natural ingredients have stayed the same...but its worth a try!
I agree with Tracy, Bag Balm works terrifc. You can find it in the pet area often times.
Crisco! Don't laugh til you try it!
Shauna
triple paste! it's worth the extra money. hands down. we've seen bad rashes and tried several creams. nothing tops triple paste.
Bag Balm (they use on cows udders) or calmoseptine, its zinc oxide like diaper rash cream except higher concentrated, and it has a cooling quality most creams dont have. Bag balm has to be my all time favorite though.
i love the butt paste :) and bag balm is a winner too!
Air. Lots of nudie time fixes most any diaper rash. If you can't do that, then try a hair dryer on low with every diaper change. Sounds weird, but keeping the skin dry will make a huge difference.
Corona - it is for pets but you can get it at Walmart or Walgreen's if you ask for it at the pharmacy. Lather it on and it is magical. It is a yellow tube or tub with red writing (I think).
Chiming in a little late but I agree with Brandi, Triple Paste here!
Mix vaseline and cornstarch until you have a white paste ... works wonders!!!! I thought it was bizarre, but sure enough, it's magic!
As the Mom of an IA kid may I say that I truly know my butt creams.
ILEX. Cover it with a layer of vaseline.
Best ever. Just trust me on this one, k?
