POTD #10 - What IS this thing?!
Kennedy and I found this bug on the side of the house the other day... and it was HUGE! See the black spikey things coming out of it?! We watched it crawl around for a few minutes and then we had to leave... when we got home, it was gone... hopefully it didn't find a way INTO our house! Freaky bug!

Looks like a caterpillar to me. http://plantsnrocks.blogspot.com/2007/08/yellow-hairy-caterpillar-with-few-black.html
Renee it looks like a tomato worm to me... it's a type of caterpillar.
Totally some kind of moth caterpillar. There are several kinds that look similar to that one...look up images for "banded tussock caterpillar" and see what you think.
Yeech!!!
Before I saw your edit I thought "hey, that's a cool looking caterpillar!". LOL. I've never heard them referred to as freaky....especially the fuzzy ones. You should have kept it in a jar or something, it would have been a great lesson on caterpillars and butterflies and the changes that happen.
