Kennedy Update

Well, I am still computer-less for now, but I'm finding ways to make do. Thank God for the iPhone! Ha!

Kennedy had her ear tubes (or should I say ear TUBE) placed today. Her left tube has been out for some time. They replaced that tube, no problem. As of her last ENT appointment, her right tube was still in. It was out today. In its place was a rather large hole which is good and bad. The bad part is, the hole was too large to put a new tube in and in theory can cause hearing loss, which ironically is what the tubes are supposed to help. The good news is that the hole is acting as a tube right now and should drain any fluid that build up in there. SO we are praying that it does indeed keep fluid from building up but does NOT cause hearing loss! Nothing can ever be simple!

The procedure itself went great! The anesthesiologist said that she did perfect and he wished he could have video taped her to show other kids how it all works so they wouldn't be scared. :) She woke up well, ate two Icees and we headed home.

Here is a picture of Kennedy and Charlie before they went back to the surgery room. Kennedy says Charlie was a good patient too! ;)

I will post again tomorrow, hopefully from my computer!

Huh, what caused the hole? Hopefully she doesn't have any problems resulting from this. Glad she's doing well. So now Kellsey's next, right?

Coben has a pretty big gapping hole in hgis ear drum and the ENT said that sometimes they close up on their own. If they don't and are causing problems they can patch the hole. His has been holey (LOL) for some time and is causing hearing issues and will have it patched sometime this summer.

We are getting "repaired" using fat tissue from abdomen and thin layer of skin from the other year later this month. Hearing issues. Had a bigger T=tube for years, finally fell out, the hole just wont close.

Kaia had the SAME thing happen with her ears...big ole nasty hole in her ear drum so no tube there. Her ear kept getting messed up though so the hole didn't do the supposed job of draining. At one point our ENT was talking about specialists and hearing aides and reconstructive surgery, and and and. He then decided wait a few months and then check again and he found the hole to be closing up on it's own. YAY! It took about a year though. He ended up putting another tube in that ear since it cannot handle not having one and she tested with perfect hearing for the first time in her life! Hoping Kennedy's will heal up fast and all will be well.
