Quick Medical Update!

I just realized I haven't done a medical update in awhile... first, let's talk about Philly... What a great trip it was! We ate and ate and ate and saw a lot of great friends! We happened to be in Philly on the first day of Spring which means FREE Rita's YAY! So we went by and grabbed ours on the way to the airport. I'm pretty sure I gained 5 pounds, but oh well! haha It was worth it! ;) I plan on posting a guide on how to eat in Philly soon, so watch for it if you ever plan on visiting there... or you know, you live there but never really take the time to actually explore the awesomeness that is the cuisine of your city! *ahem* (Joy!) ;)

Anyway, the girls appointments at Shriner's went very well. They were actually the fastest appointments we've ever had there! We were out of there in under 3 hours this time! Amazing! They both got x-rays done and then saw Dr. Samdani. Kennedy continues to heal well. He said she looks wonderful! :) Kellsey is stable for now. The gap in her spine is not any worse than it was last time we were there, which is good. He still wants to do an MRI at some point, but because of her heart defect, he wants to wait until she is older. Her AAI is definitely not as bad as Kennedy's AOI was. It's safe for her to be at a "wait and see" status. SO both girls can be seen again in a year. We've never gone that long between appointments! I'll kind of miss Philly, I have to say! But it's good to know that Dr. Samdani feels that they are both doing so well. :) As you probably saw by all the pictures, we crammed a lot into the few days we were there!

The day after we got home, Kellsey had a swallow study at Vandy. This was a repeat after her T&A and we were hoping that her aspiration issues would have improved. Unfortunately, for now, this is not the case. She is still aspirating all thin liquids and we found out that the open cup she has been drinking from at school is not going to work for her. Even with her liquids thickened to a honey consistency, she was still drinking from an open cup too fast which was making her aspirate. She refuses to slow down when she drinks (or eats), so for now she is confined to a sippy cup where she is forced to drink slowly. Up next for her is her sleep study on April 12th to see what her sleep apnea is doing and how that has changed since her T&A. We go back to pulmonology, audiology and ENT on June 7th.

Other than that, Kellsey is doing well! She continues to be healthy and her record of no illnesses is going strong. Best. Immune. System. Ever! She continues to run hot and cold with Frank and me... sometimes she likes us, sometimes she doesn't. Depends on the hour. One day at a time...

Kennedy is doing great medically! She really has nothing major coming up in the near future which is so nice to say! She goes back for an oncology check up in April... or May. I can't remember. My calendar app crashed and I lost all my old dates, so I guess I better call about that. Her last ENT appointment on March 14th showed her hearing back in normal range since she got her last set of tubes and all is well there. Her next ENT appointment will be in Colorado. We're slowly getting ready to transition both of the girls over there and are getting good names of specialists there. Her spine continues to heal well, as I said before... here is her latest x-ray pic from my phone.

Anyway, I guess that's it! You're all caught up now... and so am I, which makes me feel better! haha

With sippy cups being linked to speech issues are they going to watch Kellsey's speech since she's already having issues or is it one medical issue is worse than the other so they will deal with speech if it becomes an issue (if she ever starts really talking ;)) later?

We're home 7 months with not even a hint of an illness. What is it about that baby house?!

Thanks for the update! Lots of good news in there!
Still praying in Seattle!
Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Hi Renee,

Just wanted to let you know that you can use Google Calendar to back up iCal on your Mac, if that's what you use. It's a little funky to set up [or at least it was for me], but once it's set up, anything you create on either one automatically syncs, including stuff from your iPhone. Thought that might help in case you ever lose your calendar info again! Hope that helps you out!

Also, so glad to hear that both girls are doing well!!
