Long Night

Kellsey had an awful night's sleep last night. She whined and moaned and cried and laid in bed wide awake most of the night. They gave her an enema to help clear out any stool she had inside her, but since she just went A LOT yesterday, it didn't work. She does have a red area above her g-tube that is really firm. Her nurse last might drew a circle around the area with a pen, and this morning it was bigger, so they drew another circle. They also did more blood work this morning... I guess they're checking for different things? Not sure. Her pediatrician is supposed to be in to see her this afternoon.

Once we know what's going on, Frank will have to talk to the people at work if she's staying another night and then I think we will switch places for the night. That way I can be there for the kids tomorrow to help them get dressed up for school and stuff. Tuesday is Kennedy's surgery to have her ear tubes put in and that's in Denver, so if Kellsey's not out by THEN, I guess we will have to reschedule. Can't be in 3 places at once. *sigh*

Anyway, right now I'm just waiting for her ped who I just found out is here on the floor somewhere, so maybe we'll have some answers soon. I'll update again later.

Dang, that is indeed a lot of fluid to suddenly start at once. Bummer someone missed that, I'm sure that is causing her problems right now. Prayers that she is out for Halloween and that she is feeling better!

Oh I'm sorry Renee, I hope she gets straightened out soon! I hate to think that here she doesn't feel pain and now she's suffering :-(

Many prayers being said! Please do keep us updated.

You were supposed to have a BORING weekend! I've never heard of something like this with the g-tube. I would have a pediatric GI look into the feeding amounts. With Mark we started slow and built up to larger amounts to see what he could tolerate. Poor girl - something must be really hurting her since she appears to be in pain. Has Kellsey ever vomited? When Mark gets too full it all comes up. Prayers continued for all of you - you must be exhausted.

I sure wish, for your sake, Renee, that all of the medical crisis' would come to a halt! It sounds as tho you could use a small team of people to help you manage when the load gets as heavy as it's been lately. I feel so, so bad for Kellsey being in pain like that. From your description,,,it sounds as tho she may have a bad infection at the surgery site. I know that you'll keep us dated.
Take care of YOURSELF, too, honey..

This has nothing to do with this blog entry, but I saw this posted over on the downsyn website and thought that Keeghan would really like this blanket - http://www.etsy.com/shop/21Ribbons

Hi Renee ~ The ink marks are to watch for the redness spreading. The redness sounds like Cellulitis. Very painful. The fact that she's crying and moaning kind of blows the theory that she feels no pain, huh? You must be so confused. As for giving her so much in fluids, that can be very dangerous. That can start Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus, which I mentioned in a recent post. Excess fluids throw the body into symptoms of diabetes, minus the blood sugar issues. You can pee out way too much sodium and potassium. I would ask the doctor about that, considering her other diagnosis.
I will definitely be praying for Kellsey and for you, as you attempt to do your "Mommy-ing" in two different places. So sorry to hear that Miss Kellsey is going through a tough time! <3
