Hello from Philadelphia!
The little girls and I have been here since Tuesday evening. We have eaten some good food, seen some good friends, and had some fun! We still have a couple more days here, so we are excited to eat even more good food and see even more good friends! ;)
Today was the girls' appointment at Shriners Hospital. They had X-rays done and then we waited to see Dr. Samdani. He went over Kellsey's films first. Her AAI is still sitting right around 5mm which is holding steady. That's a good thing. Because it hasn't progressed in the last two years, he feels safe in letting Kellsey go two years between appointments. That's good news!
Kennedy's films also looked good. He was very pleased to see that all her pins and wires are still in place, her incision still looks great and she's had no issues. He wants to see her again in a year. We did have ONE request... We talked to him about Kennedy possibly being allowed to learn how to do cartwheels in dance. Dr. Samdani kind of stared at me for a minute and then I suggested maybe a neck brace while she's still in the learning process. She has been wanting to learn SO badly!! The thought of the neck brace made him feel better. It's not the actual cartwheel that's the problem, it's the potential of falling during the learning of said cartwheel that's the problem ;). So we headed over to the brace shop and picked up two braces for Kenn to wear while she's practicing. She is so excited!
The other thing we talked to him about was our next appointment. Our local Shrine who covers our plane tickets said that now that we are in Colorado, they wanted us to transfer care to a Shriners closer to us like Sacramento. I was kind of nervous about that. Dr. Samdani has been with us since the beginning, and should Kellsey ever have to have this surgery, I wouldn't want anyone doing it but him. He said that he would see what he could do to keep us though, so I am hopeful that we will be back here again next year! We really would miss Philly!
Anyway, that's the update on the girls. We are so thankful they are doing well and have a great team behind them to keep an eye on them! I have taken a few pictures which I will post when I get home. If you haven't entered my giveaway on my last post, be sure you do!
