Spring has sprung here in Colorado Springs... at least for this week! It is beautiful outside. My windows are open, the breeze is blowing, and I am soaking in the sunshine. It makes me happy. :o) My friend Lisa asked how we were adjusting to life in Colorado, so I thought I would take a few minutes to answer...
In short, we love it here!! We love our new house... with the exception of the beeping smoke alarms ;), and the kids all love having their own bedrooms... even though they look forward to the weekends when they can "sleep over" in each other's rooms! haha I guess it's fun when you don't HAVE to share a room! The kids all love their schools still, and I can hardly believe the school year is almost over!! They have all made some great friends this year and they all look forward to moving on next year... I just registered my last two babies for Kindergarten! *sniff* The district here just announced new start times for all the schools next year. Kassidy gets to start almost a full half hour later next year. She is ecstatic! Kameron and Kennedy's (and next year Keeghan's) school moved up by 5 minutes, and Kellsey's school for next year moved up by 10 minutes which means I can get everyone where they need to be when they need to be there, once again avoiding the need for buses which is good for my heart! ;o)
Beyond school, we are staying busy with church... Kassidy joined a girl's Bible study there which she goes to every other week and just loves. She also started up with soccer again last week so she goes to practice 2 nights a week. Games will start up again the end of the month. Kameron got a part in his school play. He was thrilled and they have been practicing hard! He has practice for that after school 2 nights a week. The play is in about a month and it's supposed to be a HUGE production! I can't wait to see it! He had to take a break from Tae Kwon Do due to practice conflicts, but he looks forward to getting back to that after the play is over. Kennedy has somehow picked up extra dance classes. She went from two classes to dropping one and picking up a different one, to picking back up the first one but still keeping the other one and then picking up another one! The girl LOVES to dance! She would be there every night if I would take her! ;) Keeghan also decided that he would like to try dance, so he's in one of Kennedy's dance classes. He's not doing competition quite yet, but we'll see if he wants to stick with it... maybe next year. So far, he's loving it! So for the time being, one kid has some event every night of the week! We have a couple nights with two activities, but so far we're working out the schedules with the help of some friends. I love seeing the kids busy and happy! Kellsey is status quo right now, health wise and otherwise. Her new found love is Dora (of course she hasn't given up her first love of her magna doodle!) and my friend Jenn passed along a Dora house that her son wasn't using anymore which Kellsey (and Keeghan) are now thoroughly enjoying. :)
I have enjoyed making new friends with moms at dance, on the PTA at Kameron and Kennedy's school, in our neighborhood, and through the Down syndrome association here in town. We never seem to be lacking for things to do, that's for sure! We are looking forward to school being out and playing for the summer! Frank will be home in July for two weeks R&R and we will be taking off for California for vacation. We can't wait! He is doing well in Afghanistan but he's ready for a break already and we're ready to see him. :)
Sadly, I haven't taken hardly any pictures in the last couple weeks. I don't know what's going on with me. I've been in a blogging/picture taking funk, I guess. I have snapped a few with my phone when one of the kids says, "Take a picture of ME, mom!" so I will get those uploaded at some point and share them with you all. I realized the other day that March is usually my "Picture of the Day" month and I forgot to do it this year. Sorry! Maybe I'll do it in April. :) I hope you all are still out there somewhere... I'll try to be better about blogging. At least now you know what we've been up to! :)
So, we've settled in nicely overall... we've found good friends, good restaurants, a good mechanic, fun things to do, we're slowly exploring the area around us and look forward to doing that more this year... it's FUN to move to a new place... but I hope we don't have to do it again for a long, long, LONG time! ;)
