Where to Eat in Philadelphia - Max Brenner Cafe

So, you have to admit it, ever since you saw the movie Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original one, not the creepy remake), you have wanted to visit the chocolate factory. You have wanted wallpaper in your room that you could lick. You wanted an everlasting gobstopper that really lasted forever. You wanted fizzy lifting drink that could make you float through the air and maybe even an oompa loompa or a goose who laid a golden egg... just don't get too demanding... you all remember what happens to the bad egg!

Sadly, a trip to a the REAL Wonka factory isn't quite like the movie, but there IS a restaurant whose magical desserts come pretty darn close!

Max Brenner does all things chocolate! I'm pretty sure he even pipes the smell of chocolate out into the street around his restaurant to entice you inside. Seriously. We've been there a couple times now during our visits to Philly. The first time we sat down to a full meal. Their food is... ok. It's not bad, but it's nothing you can't find at Applebees across the street for half the price. The kids were pretty excited about the fact that they got paint brushes with their chicken strips to paint their ketchup on with... but still not worth it. SO the next time we went, we hit up Applebees for dinner, ate light, and headed over to Max Brenner's for dessert... because really, when you're going to a chocolate restaurant... GO for the chocolate!

Like this....

or this...

or this...

Or hundreds of other things from Mexican Spicy Hot Chocolate to choco-pops to truffles to banana split waffles to crepes to chocolate pizza to sundaes to frappes to anything else your mind can conjure up... and if THAT isn't enough, on your way out the door you can SHOP!!!

And take some chocolate home! Oh Max Brenner. He makes my children happy. He makes the child in me happy. He makes my waistline not so happy. It's probably a good thing we don't live in Philly. :)

Max Brenner Cafe is located on 1500 Walnut Street in Philadelphia... right across from another one of my favorite chocolate places that I'll be talking about another day. :) There are also locations in New York City, Las Vegas and Boston if you're close to there... and if you just can't stand it, their website will ship chocolate anywhere in the U.S.

Happy Chocolate Shopping!

I hate to say this but I think that's too much chocolate even for me!
Know that I'm continuing to pray!
Psalms 62:5-8 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Why didn't anyone else comment on this? Don't think I've ever seen that happen before!
Paul's sentences can be really long at times...didn't want to split this one up. Know that I'm here praying!
Ephesians 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
