Kellsey's GI doctor came in earlier and told my mom that Kellsey will be in ICU at least until Monday. I was pretty surprised to hear that!! I thought maybe she'd be moved to a regular room tomorrow or Thursday. However, they're not even going to attempt to feed her through her gtube for a few more days yet while they allow her esophagus to heal. Even with me knowing that she doesn't feel pain like a typical child, it's still so hard for me to look at her and see her smiling and playing and acting normal and comprehend that she's actually quite sick.
Here are a few pictures in case you're not on my FB page...
In pre-op last night... she had versed here and was feeling... well... happy!
The batteries they got out of her... one is on top of the other. I don't know which one was where.
I try not to think about it. Ugh!
This is how she spent most of her morning... she had the right idea!
On Thursday they plan to do another endoscopy so they can see how bad the damage in her esophagus actually is. They will get a better understanding of things once the swelling is down. I guess that will determine when she can start tube feeds. They will have to watch her really closely because if she refluxes the pediasure it would be really bad on her esophagus. One day at a time...
Anyway, I'm going to go take a hot shower and head to bed... please keep praying for my girl.

Definitely praying renee! Seems like so long to be there..but praise the Lord they are taking good precautions with her! God keep Kellsey safe and give her little body strength and complete healing! REfresh Renee tonight and give her the strength also to endure the ICU with her baby girl these next several nights. Amen
I have been way,way out of the blogging loop lately and wow, just came on to see this. Prayers for your girl Renee and hoping you all can get home and back to routines soon.
I kept looking at the pictures of the batteries and, like you, I just was trying not to think of it. Also, when I was reading one of the posts earlier, when you said you would not just accept 'stomach bug' for an answer, it reminded me of once gain how we know our children and our instincts are usually right.
Baby steps for your sweet baby girl !
Praise God ur Mom is there.
And prayers for all !
Jesus understands suffering. Praying hard that she'll recover quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hebrews 2:9-10 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Those batteries are horrifying!!! That's an image I'll never forget, but one that many, many people will see and learn from. You hate for your own child to be an example for something like this, but I hope so many people will see and read this. Sweet girl - hope the next few days yield positive results and quick healing!!!
Beautiful sweetie! Continued prayers for her swift healing! I know a lot of us wish we were close by so we could help out! Sending (((BIG HUGS))) from RI!
First I have to say she's so adorable and I know it;s hard but at least she looks somewhat comfortable. So sorry you all are going through this. Praying for you and your family!
Oh,I just read the whole story...poor baby girl!! That's horrible!! Will definately be praying for all of you but for Kellsey for sure :)
So glad Kellsey is doing well. I hope you get good news from the second scope. When I worked as an RN in pediatrics, I took care of a little boy that had swallowed a battery. It was there a long time before they found it and it eroded completely through his esophagus and trachea! They had been treating him for pneumonia for weeks, only to transfer him to us to find out why the pneumonia would not clear up. One bronchscopy later we found the reason-he was aspirating everything he ate or drank. You gotta wonder why kids swallow the things they do. My oldest swallowed a button, but fortunately no batteries. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Oh my goodness, we'll definitely keep praying. Glad surgery went well and she's doing better!
Poor Kellsey! And poor you! I'm so glad your mom is there to help. It's a horrible thing to happen but at least the timing was good with her there. Will that spot in Kellsey's esophagus get thicker as it heals or will you always have to worry about it being thin?
Prayers for sweet Kellsey and family!!
