Moving...

Well, it's sooner than we planned, but we are moving. Thankfully we don't have to move far... just 3 miles down the road in fact. But several months ago, we found out that the owners of our house were pocketing our rent money and stopped paying their mortgage. Our house is now in foreclosure. :o/ Thankfully, our rental company went to bat for us with the bank since Frank is deployed and we "have a ton of kids" haha and the bank let us stay put since we are paying our rent. But time is drawing near and a house hunting we had to go.

We looked at a few different houses and found one that we REALLY liked... it was in the mountains... like... they got BEARS in their yard. Kameron was dreaming of feeding the bears honey. HA! However, someone put in an application like 10 minutes before us (literally) and we lost the house. Sadness.

Then we found another house that we really liked. It was HUGE! And it was close to the dance studio, soccer fields and Kameron's drama classes... a definite plus! However, it was out of the kids' school district and after some research we figured out that while Kennedy and Keeghan would have been safe for the rest of their elementary school years, it would have jeopardized the school that Kameron wants to go to for middle school next year. He has his heart set on this fine arts program and he really doesn't ask for much. I feel like Kameron sometimes gets lost in the shuffle... Kassidy is the oldest, Keeghan is the baby, Kennedy is... well... Kennedy, and Kameron is kind of the unofficial middle child. I don't want him to lose this dream, especially for a house. We're never home anyway! So we declined it. It was pretty though.

Then I went with a friend from the PTA who is a realtor to look at a few more houses... whew! We saw a range of houses! LOL One was... um... disgusting! Seriously, horribly, terribly, NASTY. I mean, there are days when my house is covered in toys and my kitchen sink is filled with dishes and my laundry is piled high but this house was... *shudder*. That's all I have to say about that. We looked at 4  more houses... 2 were ok and 2 were nicer, potential houses for us. I made a list, my friend made some calls and I started to get hopeful.

After school that day, we looked at one more house that I found on Craigslist. I know, I know. LOL This house is for rent by owner. The owner is actually a pastor and he and his wife have 4 kids. They are building a home not far from here and have lived in their home for 11 years. They were looking for a family who would love their home like they did. We talked for a long time while I told Keeghan to be good! haha And as we walked out, the kids said, "We want to live HERE!" I talked to Frank that night and filled out an application a few hours later. Word came in today that the house is ours. :) We move in next month.

I have lots of emotions running through my head. I love our house here! It has been a good "fit" for us, but I am kind of excited to start fresh again with decorating the kids' rooms and stuff... there are definite pros to this house... like a theater room with a 1,000 inch screen. The kids are dreaming of many movie nights and I know Frank is looking forward to the Super Bowl on the big screen. ;) Then I think about packing and it makes me tired. HA! But we're just moving 3 miles away, it can't be THAT bad... right? Right. We can do this!!

Pictures to come, of course... but probably not for a month or so. ;)

Are you moving alone? Like Frank will still be deployed and you will have to load the moving truck by yourself (well hopefully with a lot of help from friends)? At least it's not far and that really stinks about the owners of that other house. Stinks when you pay your bills, but others do not. But at least they gave you time. I just hope Frank is home to help with the move.

Didn't expect this post!!! I love your positive outlook though...not that you have any choice! I'll bet you and the kids will see this as a new adventure and will have a lot of fun with it. Wish I were there to help you pack! That's the worst part. Oh to just "be there" in the new house! I'm glad you don't have to be out before Christmas!! (((BIG HUGS)))!!!

All I can think is NO MORE SMOKE ALARMS! Well, you will have some I'm sure but probably not a dozen of them in odd places. :-) Sorry that you have to leave a house you love but I'm sure this will work out great too!

Do you get that "one free" move?? I used it to move when my husband was out to sea and I moved on base...

Hahaha! I had the same first thought that Jennifer did. Glad things are working out nicely despite the crooked owners of the present house.

Sounds like you're making lemonade with the lemons! Look at it this way...you won't have to worry about all the smoke detectors going off! Maybe Kennedy will sleep better!
Praying right now!
Isaiah 41:10, 13 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (13) For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
