Remembering Ana

Today is the birthday of Ana Marquez-Greene. She should be turning 7 today... blowing out candles, playing with her brother Isaiah, and getting excited for the end of first grade and summer vacation. Instead her family is left to mourn this day because Ana is gone... another victim of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Ana is best remembered for her love of singing and dancing. She was born into a musical family and embraced that from an early age. She had a gift for melody and rhythm. Ana was full of energy, and never walked anywhere... she danced everywhere she went. Sounds like another little girl I know. ;) Ana loved to read the Bible and sing and dance as acts of worship. She loved to read, loved to do picture math problems, and loved giving hugs. Every morning she gave first and second hugs to her parents, Jimmy and Nelba, and always hoped for a second breakfast or second dessert as a special treat. Her parents rest in the assurance that their little girl is in heaven and that they will see her again someday.

Ana's family has set up a facebook page to remember her... it's beautiful and raw and heartbreaking all at the same time, please go visit if you can and like their page. If you would like to honor Ana's memory, you can do so here.

Happy 7th Birthday, Ana! We will never forget...
