Remembering Chase

I know today is Halloween and I will share pictures of my kiddos later. Tonight I want to post about this sweet boy - Chase Kowalski. Beyond Trick-or-Treating for Halloween, Chase should have been celebrating his 8th birthday today with his family and friends. Instead his parents are remembering him as he spends his first birthday in Heaven.

Chase was a little boy with lots of energy! He jumped out of bed every morning, raced to mark a day off his calendar with a big X and get on with the day's activities. Chase was very athletic and loved to ride motorcycles, play baseball, swim and run. In Chase's memory, his parents Stephen and Rebecca are trying to raise enough money to build a community center for the kids in Newtown called Chase's Place. His mom says the idea for Chase's Place actually came from Chase before he died in December at Sandy Hook. They vow that their sweet son will never be forgotten, and I am sure that is true.

For more information about Chase's Place, you can visit their website or their Facebook page. Hopefully one day soon, we'll see Chase's dream become a reality.

Happy 8th Birthday, Chase!! We will never forget...

Remembering Avielle

Today is Avielle Richman's 7th birthday... Another beautiful little soul gone too soon. Avielle was an only child and the light of her parents' lives. Her dad Jeremy and mom Jennifer describe Avielle as a girl who loved life and was willing to try just about any new adventure. Whether it was Barbies or superheroes, kung fu or cooking, Avielle enjoyed whatever she was doing.

When she grew up, Avielle wanted to be a writer, an artist, a spy and of course a fairy princess. She loved to play soccer, fish, ride horses and go swimming, and like her own unique name, she assigned different names to everything she loved.

Jeremy and Jennifer refuse to let their daughter's light stop shining last December at Sandy Hook Elementary. In Avielle's memory they have created The Avielle Foundation with a goal of preventing violence through education. You can visit their website to learn more about the foundation and Avielle and visit their Facebook page here for updates.

Happy Birthday, Avielle! We will never forget...

Fundraisers and Giveaways! OH MY!

Happy October!!

I cannot believe we are 5 days into October already!! Time is just flying by too quickly! I have been busy with school events and Kameron was down sick for several days last week. He's back up and running now though... it was a nasty virus that just hit him hard. Thankfully no one else got it!

As you ALL know, October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month!!! :) There are some very special things in the works that I can't wait to share with you, and two of them I get to share with you RIGHT now! :)

FIRST, remember when this happened? WELL, the Libert's Catalog finally came out and we were thrilled! :) Kennedy had a great time looking for pictures of her and her friends on all the different pages. We were especially excited to partner with Libert's for a special fundraiser on this costume which has its proceeds going to the Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Dance Classes at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. If you would like to purchase this costume for your studio or your dancer, check it out here. (I believe it's on back order right now, but it should be back in stock soon!)

Down syndrome (also known as Trisomy 21) is an extra copy of the 21st chromosome and occurs in 1 in every 700 live births. Children with Down syndrome are more alike their peers than different. They talk, walk, laugh, cry, feel joy and pain, have fears and celebrate accomplishments just like all children. They go to school in regular classrooms and participate in sports programs where they often thrive. Many children with Down syndrome love music and have a passion for dance. Once they find that studio and teacher who believes in them and is willing to take the extra time to cultivate that talent, they shine in class and on stage. Dance has changed the lives of many individuals with Down syndrome. It has helped them gain confidence, grow lasting friendships, and have opportunities they may not have otherwise had.

Libert's Dancewear is excited to partner with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation for a tribute to these amazing dancers. We have seen them glide across the floor in ballet, tap their little hearts out, and rock the stage in jazz and hip hop. Whether they are practicing in class, showing off for family and friends at recital, or competing at national competitions, they always leave their soul on the dance floor and give it all they've got. Proceeds from this very special costume will be given to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation to help continue their Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Classes for individuals with Down syndrome. You can learn more at .

NEXT I have an amazing GIVEAWAY for you in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month (AND I have a different one for you at the end of the month so that will give you something to look forward to!). This one is sponsored by my awesome friend Laura who sells Origami Owl. Let me tell you, if you don't have an Origami Owl Locket, I get compliments on mine ALL the time! Everyone loves it!! This one is especially designed to honor our loved ones with Down syndrome...

Isn't it fabulous?! There are a couple different ways you can modify this necklace if you win. So, HOW do you win, you might be wondering?! Well, FIRST go LIKE my friend Laura's Facebook page! She has lots of fun stuff going on ALL the time! THEN leave me a comment here on my blog (comments on my Facebook page don't count) and you are entered to win! AND if you share this post on your Facebook page and leave me a separate comment here telling me you did so, you'll be entered to win a second time!! :)

Furthermore, if anyone would like to purchase this necklace, for the month of October, Laura will be giving proceeds back to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month! This necklace would make a GREAT gift for new mothers, grandmothers, godmothers or anyone who supports and loves individuals with Down syndrome and the proceeds go to an AMAZING cause! SO if you're interested in buying, please send Laura or me a message and we will get you all set! You can check out Laura's site here to order and see ALL her stuff and you'll see the fundraiser for GDSF at checkout! :)

I will choose a winner using in two weeks on October 19th!! Happy shopping!! :)
